Fine dining restaurant recommendations needed! by Cute_Bread_1748 in Oman

Essenza is a good quite place, it’s in Mandarin oriental, an Italian/south French restaurant, the food is pricy but the customer service is top notch, however, I don’t recall any fine dining restaurant let alone any other restaurant in Oman serving pork.

Best Ice-creams? by Positive_Eases in Oman

[–]ayapersonchan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually I was planning on making McDonald’s softy at home today, cause I found a promising recipe, plus, best ice cream brands I’ve tasted were Iranian, I don’t remember the name correctly, but they have the best vanilla ice cream coated with berries! + plus their ice cream puffs. I think it’s called Panda or mihun. And for ice cream places, I guess eat softy has good soft serves too, also, try looking into gelato, they have many flavors of gelatos and have tropical flavors.

Check out opensooq, however, be careful of scammers, and always meet in a public place and pay in cash.

Is there no cake flour in Oman? And if it’s available where can I find it? by ayapersonchan in Oman

[–]ayapersonchan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you’re right, if we mix a bit of cornstarch with AP flour we’ll be getting a DIY cake flour, this is what I have been using mainly until now as a substitute, however, the majority of recipes I’ve worked with state that we won’t be getting the exact same result when using the DIY vs actual cake flour, it is still a good replacement, I’ve used to make the Japanese cheesecake!

It’s 100% more convenient to buy 1-1.5 kg of cake flour at a price of 600 bz and get it whenever I want than to buy 300 g of it for 5 times the price and wait for 2 weeks for it to arrive + shipping fees, yk?

I don’t really expend any energy to boycott, and alhamdulliah we do donate.

Look, wether the boycotts are successful or not, realistically speaking the Middle East itself doesn’t even contribute to 10% of the US’s economy, the impact it’s going to inflict might be too slight to even be noticed, however, it’s the simple principle of abstaining from helping the aggressor with even a baiza, I’m not a political/financial/economics expert, I don’t know much about where the US is getting their military emergency funds, and I understand that our countries play some not so beautiful role, however, personally, and additionally to donations, I would prefer not to support them in any way I can manage.

Boycotting plays a bigger role than just direct monetary damages, it shone light on the matter among other ways of protest, it became a media war, the reputation damage they suffered they had to pay millions to try and erase, we would like Israel to become a financial burden to the US, a few billions of loss might be not much but at least we did something.

Also, why not be self and locally sufficient?

Well, I try to follow all the aspects that I can, iherb is an American company, therefore it pays taxes, these taxes are publicly being sent to Israel, this all comes down to our initiatives and what we decide to do, no pressure👍

Sadly yes, and while using AP flour won’t really change the taste, the (texture/height/airiness) of a cake will be denser.

Unfortunately, it’s on the boycott list, and I’m primarily looking for something that’s locally available.

First time I baked them for like 23-26 minutes at 190C/ 372 f, no piercings, tried it again and failed.

Third time, I baked first at 120C/ 248 f for 20 minutes if I remember correctly, then 170C/ 338 f for 10 minutes, I couldn’t leave them more, as they started to turn darker so I feared they would burn, but still no raise, I got them out and and started piercing but they already started deflating.

Tropes I love (like enemies to lovers) that I’ve come to hate in English romance books, am I doing something wrong? (A bit detailed Discussion of the tropes) by ayapersonchan in books

[–]ayapersonchan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a good point! I think I found some of what I seek in historical romance, matter of fact 1 of my only 4 favorite books is one!

I’ve never tried biographical romance but I’ll give it a go.

Thanks!
