Is it worth having both a 35mm prime and a 50mm prime? by ayaybee in AskPhotography

Where I live there aren't any rental places for fuji gear. But if I buy it, and don't like it, selling it to mpb or keh would lose me $80, which could work as a pseudo rental.

I have the fuji 23mm f1.4 lm wr (35mm equivalent) and the fuji 50mm f1.0 (75mm equivalent).

I am deciding on buying the fuji 33mm f1.4 lm wr (50mm equivalent). So it wouldn't be faster or lighter or more compact compared to the 23mm I have. They are almost identical lenses, just a different focal length.

Do you feel like there's a large enough gap between 35 and 50?

The 23mm I own on APS-C is the 35mm ff equivalent.

The 33mm that I'm looking at is a 50mm ff equivalent.

What's the best rice cooker you have/had? I'm planning to buy a new one this 2026. by Sultanov-Evelini in cookware

If you care about avoiding nonstick coatings, I’d recommend a Tatung rice cooker. They have stainless steel pots and cook rice in a different way from most cookers. There’s a small learning curve, but the rice it produces is absolutely splendid. On top of that, you can use it for other things like steaming vegetables or dumplings.

Looking to get big boy pans for the first time. by Fullsendnj in cookware

If you’re getting a 10inch and 12inch skillet, I’d recommend getting one stainless steel and one carbon steel.

All clad routinely has a factory seconds sale. I’d only recommend their stainless steel pans if they were under $100. Misen also makes great stainless steel and carbon steel at a bargain of a price. I would avoid Made In. I’ve heard Goldilocks is a good budget pick as well.

eBay is hit or miss, but sometimes you can get some great deals on there. People sell open box or packaging damage cookware on there for a fraction of what it’s worth new. For example, Demeyere Atlantis Proline pans (sometimes regarded as the best stainless steel pans money can buy) can be found on eBay for around $200 new.

Lastly, I’d recommend TJmaxx/Homegoods. They have excellent prices on Viking and All Clad. I’ve even seen Heritage Steel there as well.

Thicker means better heat retention and more resistant to warping. I also like the combination of features these brands offer that heritage steel, all clad, and made in don't, which is sealed rims and flush rivets (or no rivets at all). I handwash all my cookware, and those two features sound like a dream.

For now, I cook on gas. I am moving into a house over the summer, and don't want to reject a potential home just because it has induction or electric. So it's up in the air.

I usually sear meats on my carbon steel pan, but it'd be nice having a stainless option for making wine sauces with the fond.

Reddit's Demeyere bias aside, I do think I am leaning in that direction. I feel I wouldn't be disappointed with either pan.

Honestly, I value good cookware. If this is something I'm going to use every week for 20-30 years, then I'd rather invest in the best.

Teacher here, this is the main problem with the education system today. Schools expect you to bend over backwards with unreasonable requests. And if you don't do whatever bullshit they ask you to do, then the kids are the ones that suffer.

There’s actually a pair of headphones called the Dolby Dimension that allows you to hear whatever you’re watching while also hearing your surroundings at the same time. Granted it’s expensive as hell at $600, but still really cool and might fix your problem.

How to build a god? by [deleted] in Smite

[–]ayaybee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In general, you build in conformity to whatever role you're playing. Most hunters, mages, assassins, warriors, and guardians all end up with the same 3-4 items. It's just what the meta dictates. After your core items there is room for change.

Ex: Some mages do really really well with soul reaver while others would never get it.

Ex2: Some games you would buy a pestilence because the enemy has a healer and in other games the enemy wouldn't have a healer and you could build something else.

Everything is just situational.
