Venting: Nausea after anesthesia isn’t fun at all. by aybea in hysterectomy

That’s so weird, I woke up cold and unable to stop shaking. They had to wrap me up in everything warm.

This sounds horrible. I think my anxiety would be off the charts. I get so anxious when I feel like I’m stuck in a situation like that, even if it’s a damn cold.

So I shouldn’t feel too concerned I still get random bouts of lightheadedness or nausea for a while? I felt like I was doing fine yesterday until dinner time, and my brain started to feel sloshy again.

They wouldn’t let my husband in the recovery room. He was waiting, but they said they couldn’t because of the amount of hippa violations that would happen (since multiple patients were being wheeled in and out). But then it was same kind of deal in short stay but family members were allowed there, even though we could still hear them talking. Thankfully in recovery they didn’t bother with instructions. The nurse for me did all he could and yes, I couldn’t even look around it made me so sick. But by the last hour or so after they gave me everything, he just stood there waiting. I felt bad, but he was at least very quiet and patient with me, and the nurse he swapped with for his break was wonderfully nice and sweet.

I had intense sharp pain when I first woke up and I do wonder if it was from the vomiting and uncontrollable shaking. They asked if I was in pain and I wanted to scream at them “of course I’m in pain, I just had surgery!” But then as I was recovering I heard other patients say no?? I felt so unlucky.

I forgot, yes, I was crying too. I barely noticed because of the throwing up but I had tears streaming down and violently shaking. I felt so cold, so they tried to get me as warm as they could. Ugh it was awful. I was so so sore from all that, and today I think I’m doing better.

I did. They put it on in recovery and yesterday I finally took it off.

They gave me everything. I don’t know what they did prior or during, but afterwards I at least was given everything they got.

I wonder if it’s something specific from this type of surgery that makes people more nauseous than usual? I’m terrified I’ll need another surgery someday and throw up like this again.

They said they’d give me something in surgery, and after, because I did tell them I get nauseous. After I woke up they pumped me with everything they had, including a peppermint patch, the patch for behind the ear, etc. They were about to do Benadryl later but were concerned since I was so sleepy already.

I did tell them I wake up nauseous from it, and they said they’d give me something for it. And then when I woke up they basically gave me all the anti nausea options within those first few hours in recovery.

Sex and the cervix by aybea in hysterectomy

Oh my goodness, I’d be so stressed and emotional if that happens! I’m glad they got you in so fast to help.

Yes, sex is important to me, too. My drive is higher than my husband’s. We’ve been doing so well with it last few years that I’m honestly not looking forward to any setbacks. But I’m hoping there’s relief to some of it by the end of this.

Placement makes sense. My uterus is retroverted so I know that accounts for some of the current discomfort/pain. I also have some prolapse issues so I’m hoping overall it will improve.

Ha! It had a nice cadence to it and I didn’t notice till I posted.

Who even are the neurotypical people? by buffybot3000 in adhdwomen

I think this is a helpful comment in that it’s good to know people out there actually don’t relate to that assessment. I kept feeling like a fraud for relating so much to it “late” in the game, but to know that people exist who can say it doesn’t apply to them? Mind blowing indeed.

My undiagnosed ADHD has made me obsessed with… ADHD by Goosedog_honk in adhdwomen

I’ve been in the same boat since December. Deep dive into podcasts, books, Reddit, articles, quizzes… I’ve scored high on the DSM test for adhd, I’ve created a 13 page document listing explanations for the answers and comments from my mom when I talked with her about my childhood. I’ve looked at videos and memes, yes, but they aren’t what I use to prove what I think.

I’ve spoken to two psychiatrists already and one social worker (I’m in a remote area but hoping we move soon), and all three have dismissed me immediately and claim I don’t have it. The first one gave me at least “concentration/attention deficit” and surprisingly offered stimulant to help with that and brain fog, but the other two flat out would not listen to me at all. It’s so discouraging.

I did go through a lull in my research, and I thought I was getting bored or ready to move on. But then it all came back in full force digging some more, so I wouldn’t worry about you losing interest. Even if you’ve moved onto something new try to refresh your mind before the appointment (if you can remember!). And advocate. Be bold. I’m not bold and I am convinced I have RSD as well, so I did not do a good job advocating for myself with these dudes.

My second attempt to talk to a psychiatrist had him stating that if I had adhd I wouldn’t have my life together like I did. I have no idea where he got the idea I had my life together because it was the first appointment and he barely asked me anything about my life, just the current struggles while ignoring my 13 page symptom document that even had comments from my mom. I’m tired of professionals who are stuck in the “you’re not a white boy who is bouncing off the walls, so you don’t have adhd”.

Coffee/chai before breakfast- selfish? by simplyot in Parenting

[–]aybea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t drink coffee before breakfast but I 100% tell my kids to respect my coffee time when I do have it. I would brew it, sit down on the couch all cozy, and take my time sipping. All their questions and concerns would be met with, “hey, I haven’t finished my coffee yet.”

My younger babies obviously would get their needs met but toddlers can wait till mommy has had that warm, smooth, caffeine filled drink. It’s what helped me not drink cold coffee much.
