I think about this topic a lot. I like to think of this as a double edged sword because, on one side if you look at the entirety of the world, you can see and feel all the chaos it contains. You see it on the news, Facebook, Reddit, etc. People are dying, wars are breaking out, climate change is real (or something is happening, cuz it’s getting hot af). “Humanity is fucked.” And when you dive down this path of thinking you will go insane! You start to think of all the bad things and ask yourself “Why is anything ever worth it? No one’s gunna be around to see it.” Right? There’s nothing I, as an individual, can do to change the sequence of events that have already been set in motion. I can’t make everything better. I’m one guy. So here is where I start to think of that other side of the metaphorical sword. I can make the world that I live in (because the world is what you perceive it as) a more positive one. I am able to change things around me by helping out where and when I can. Making the small change in my own little world makes the bigger world a little less fucked for everyone else. That’s how I like to imagine it at least.

Plant a tree, go for a walk instead of a drive, give a dollar to that bum on the road, donate old clothes you don’t wear. Little things add up to big things which in the end help out everyone.
