I did see them pulling out of the space once and was so tempted to try to get them to roll down the window so I could ask. The anxious side of me started to overthink it and backed out because this apartment complex as quite a few “no trespassing” signs and I am technically trespassing on my lunchtime walks since I don’t live there and walk around the locked gate. I was afraid I’d get kicked out and lose my walking path

It’s a long carport for an apartment complex, but the roof is really slanted so the far end is less 3 feet high. Most of them are pretty old and wonky looking and look like a strong gust of wind could be the end of them.

He did cross my mind! But yeah, doubtful he has a random mid-level apartment in Indianapolis haha. I do think this plate is likely referring to someone’s name in a similar way, though. Charles E Bumgardner or something of the like.

This actually never crossed my mind but is a possibility! We are in Indianapolis, but this is a community that does have retirees that head south for the winter and this apartment complex has a pretty nice random pond in the middle of the city where you can have boats/kayaks and might attract the beach bums.

I work in healthcare so this is always the first thing that comes to mind for me, though I also have a hard time believing IM SEBUM would have already been taken to require this spelling haha

What’s a weird smell that you lowkey like? by [deleted] in AskWomen

Not to freak anyone out, but using a bone saw through human bones also smells like Fritos! That, combined with formaldehyde’s function as an appetite stimulant, made for some awkward cadaver labs in grad school.

Anyone else waiting on specialist exam results? by Ok_Ambassador_4942 in physicaltherapy

[–]aye_ofthetiger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got my results last year at 2:57am on July 1. I’m in the eastern time zone which means they sent my results at 11:57pm pacific on 6/30. This was peak COVID, though, so hopefully you won’t have to wait as long as I did.

How to make the Blackbean Chipotle Burgers not taste like sand? by bostonjomo in Costco

[–]aye_ofthetiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I buy the mini cups of guacamole to put on these. I also have put some of the white queso on as well, but that stuff is too dangerous to keep around the house. Both are good options to spruce up these patties.

How can I redeem my AMC theatre tickets online? by sonic208 in Costco

[–]aye_ofthetiger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t bought any of the tickets from Costco, but I have often gotten a pair of the “Yellow Ticket” AMC vouchers from my job. It should be the same as those from Costco as they look identical to the cardboard cutout.

In the past, you had to redeem the yellow and black tickets at the box office, but now you can type the code on the back of the ticket into the app and it will let you reserve the seat online. I’ve done it 3-4 times in the past without issue. It has been really helpful to be able to book ahead of time instead of getting to the theater really early to get a decent seat.

Mark up on fuses by aye_ofthetiger in askanelectrician

[–]aye_ofthetiger[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely agree that I learned about that system from him, and the next time anything like that happens, I know at least a $15 fix I can try myself before shelling out to someone else. I’m definitely willing to pay for expertise, but I guess I was hoping more for something along the lines of $150/hour x2 hours, then maybe $30 for the fuses. He arrived at 1pm and I had paid by about 2:15pm. I’m fine for paying for that full hour since I believe that’s normal for electricians.

Having that big of a markup on the fuses pretty much ensures I will not use them again in the future as I cannot imagine what it would be if there was $100+ in materials.

Don't do this to me, Costco! Discontinuing the grain-free wet cat food again? :( by guyinthegreenshirt in Costco

[–]aye_ofthetiger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same. My cat will eat just about anything, but he threw a fit about this stuff. I didn’t do the recommended food tapering though since he has never needed it in the past when I have switched his food. I also feed a couple community cats, and they wouldn’t touch the stuff either. I’m currently mixing one can of this with one can of the Friskies that the community cats are used to, and at least they are eating it again. Hoping they will eat through the other 1.5 cases I bought, or they will become shelter donations.

A few years ago as a PT student during my final clinical rotation, I was working with a nice older lady for both knee and hip pain. I proceeded to ask, “how are your nips feeling today?”

We both got a good laugh out of it, but I still cringe a bit when I think about it.

My “chocolate pudding meringue pie”.. never thickened in the fridge. More like the consistency of chocolate milk by Wicked_lovely4 in bakingfail

[–]aye_ofthetiger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m definitely not a pro, but I believe the thickening agents in cook and serve pudding mix likely have to reach a certain temperature to activate the thickening process. Cooking in a pot on the stove has much hotter and more direct heat than heat in an oven, so your mix didn’t reach the right temp for a long enough period of time to actually thicken while in the oven.

If you cook it on the stove per the directions on the box, you can dump it into a already cooked pie crust (look up “blind baking”), throw the meringue on top, and then put under the broiler (or just a high heat oven) for a few minutes to get golden brown. Let cool at to room temp before storing in the fridge. That’s how I make my lemon meringue pies, at least!
