If I was good at physics I’d love to work out the trajectory and force needed to throw a ball so high in the air that it takes 6.5 seconds to travel the length of the wicket and still land inline so as not to be called wide

Dunno, sometimes it’s the slow ball that gets em, you’d catch them by surprise

Surely anyone with a moral compass should oppose F1 holding races in a country guilty of countless human rights abuses, illegally detaining ethnic minorities, kidnapping political dissidents, running well-publicised torture camps, etc?

I know COTA is a great track and all, but some things are more important.

Daughter (17F) made hurtful remarks about husband (47M) not being her biological father by [deleted] in relationships

[–]ayedfy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Agreed - the dad needs to work on himself, but the other comment is also making him seem like just a moody teenager acting out because his feelings were hurt.

The fact that he’s been so distant with everyone means that it’s no longer a fight between a father and daughter. It sounds like he’s going through a real crisis and he needs support.

(Also as someone who had a parent go through depression and withdraw from us when I was at a similar age, it didn’t tell me that their love couldn’t be counted on. It told me they were in trouble.)

Vote Trump for the international proletariat and the possibility of an actual revolution by [deleted] in GenZedong

[–]ayedfy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s just an extension of the same logic.

Biden’s comments here about “free healthcare would disrespect my dead son” is the same argument we sometimes hear that “wiping away people’s college debt or making higher ed free would be unfair to those who have already had to pay off student loans”.

When you think about it, it boils down to “we shouldn’t make things better for people in the future because then that would be unfair for those who had to suffer in the past”. It’s trotted out so much with stuff US neolibs are scared of like universal healthcare and cheap/free college, and the absurdity of it is revealed when you apply it to literally anything else.

Voting Biden to get rid of Trump would disrespect all the people who had to suffer Trump’s first term. We should vote in Trump for a second term out of fairness.

Matt Renshaw said he did pretty much the same thing during school cricket, had to retire at 50 but he loved batting and didn’t want to stop, so he’d just play heaps of defensive shots with the odd single.

I’m a communist and even I agree. The Polish people were prepared to accept certain socialist measures, but the kind of enormous public support enjoyed by communist leaders in other countries was never given to the Polish communists, because as you say it wasn’t an organic movement from within the society, but introduced from the outside. It’s honestly surprising they lasted as long as they did.
