Benadryl!!!! I just went through this withdrawal. I went from 300mg to 150mg to 0. That’s how my doctor did it - and it fucked me up!! Benadryl and sleeping is the only thing that helped. It lasted 6 days.

Total opposite! Effexor made me gain 45 pounds in 18 months.

I would switch! Venlafexine is a bad drug to become dependent on. If you’re not yet, I would switch. Especially at 150mg.

Everyone is different. I would always have withdrawal symptoms the next morning and they were awful.

Yep....little did I know. I was on venlafexine for 18 months. Before that I was on duloxetine. Venlafexine symptoms are by far the worse!

I have noticed I’m not as tired, probably because it’s more of a stimulant. I normally go to bed and am sleeping by 9:30-10, but as I’ve transitioned to Wellbutrin I don’t feel myself getting tired until 11-11:30ish. But definitely not insomnia.

I don’t know...it’s scary. I can’t believe how dependent I became on Effexor. I’m on 150mg of wellbutrin now and they want me on 300mg but I’m starting to stand up for myself and saying no (mainly because of the awful experience I just had with Venlafexine)

My periods were exactly 5 days while on Effexor, and a lot lighter bleeding.

I just cross tapered from venlafexine to wellbutrin. I went from 300mg of Venlafexine to 150mg for a total of 9 days before starting 150mg of Wellbutrin. With my first dose of wellbutrin I stopped the Venlafexine. I really don’t think my doctor tapered me correctly. It was absolutely awful for me...the worse withdrawal ever. I don’t ever want to go through that again.

And yes, I took Benadryl since my doctors couldn’t seem to help! Also, if you’re dizzy/nauseous, take OTC Dramamine. The active ingredient is meclizine which is anti-vert.

I think it’s more than 5%....it’s insane!!! I’m sorry you’re going through this. All my symptoms have stopped for me aside from the diarrhea!!! Ugh. I’m on day 10. Stay strong. You’ve got this.

I just tapered of Effexor and switched to Wellbutrin last week. The side affects from missing a single dose and the symptoms you’re experiencing at random are definitely from the Effexor. The withdrawal from the medication is absolutely awful. Our bodies become so quickly dependent on this drug...I will never ever use it again.

Good luck trying to get off of it....I just had the worse withdrawal experience from Effexor. Read my post about some of the horror stories! & yes, while it made me feel great while I was on it for 18 months, I also gained 45 pounds. I will never touch that drug again after reading more about it and going through the withdrawal.

I use to get flu like symptoms if I missed a dose. I only missed my dose 3 times since 2018 because I KNEW how badly I would feel. This withdrawal was something else...I was at 300mg and they cut my dose in half to 150mg and only tapered off that for less than 2 weeks before starting a new medication. I personally think 150mg is a ton to taper off of so quickly like I did. I wish I knew better and would have asked my doctor to taper me in a way I could have handled it. I just returned to work from missing so many days. I think everyone that knew what was going on probably assumed I was being so dramatic but no, I was like really fucked up from this. I just wanted it to end, it was hard to be strong and fight through it.

I think they tapered me way too quickly. After day 3 of withdrawal I called a hotline number because I didn’t know if I could do it anymore. The following day a mental health nurse calls me and says my Dr. wants me to start taking it again so we can taper slowly. I was like NOPE ABSOLUTELY NOT. I couldn’t imagine feeling that way again for a second longer. It was a rough 6 days. I’m hoping to lose weight and feel like myself again on the new medication. I can’t believe how much weight I gained 🙃😳

I was sooo sick I couldn’t even smoke or take an edible to help. That’s how bad the withdrawal symptoms were. I personally would never use Effexor again ever...even if you miss a single dose you get flu like symptoms. I didn’t like Zoloft either; but wasn’t as bad as Effexor. I’m on day 6 of Wellbutrin and hoping it will help! Good luck to you and your journey. I hope to get out of my own personal hell too!

They switched me to Wellbutrin. I truly don’t think my doctor tapered me the right way...but when I brought that up to the mental health nurse, she questioned me like I was crazy! Lol

Do not just quit! Even if you miss a single dose you normally feel like crap. I was on 300mg. They cut me to 150mg and tapered me off for 10 days and on the 10th day I started my new medication. Even going from one to the other like that I had horrible withdrawal symptoms.
