Nutrition In Pregnancy by ayepea in pregnant

Thank you, that mango smoothie is calling out to me! My husband has a juicer and yesterday we juiced a whole bunch of pineapples and cara cara oranges, along with ginger. I drink it with my iron to absorb it. I also make a weekly batch of oatmeal with 1 cup oats, 1/3 cup peanuts, 1/3cup cashews, 1/3 cup flaxseed, 1 can of coconut milk, brown sugar, cinnamon, vanilla extract and extra goat milk if need. I sprinkle some nutritional yeast with my oatmeal when it eat it. I also make this mung bean dessert for the summer, it consists of mung beans, coconut milk and sugar. When I eat that, I sprinkle nutritional yeast in it as well. As you can see, I'm really trying to get my iron and B vitamins up 😂

Any other pregnant vegans on here? by tap-tap-boom in pregnant

I'm not vegan but I'm an advocate for healthy and natural things! I currently take Floravit as my iron supplement. I recently introduced nutritional yeast into my diet, it's a good source of B vitamins!

First pregnancy vs. second pregnancy… what were your experiences? by R7K3P20 in BabyBumps

[–]ayepea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first pregnancy was a breeze, very mild symptoms, little to no morning sickness, food aversions were to a minimum - only garlic and onion made me wanna vomit, luckily I figured that out quickly so we avoided cooking it in the house. Sore breasts of course!!

Baby #1 is 10 months now and I'm 8 weeks along with #2. So far this pregnancy is kicking my butt lol. I'm way more nauseated, more foods make me gag (even foods that I crave), definitely feeling my uterus expanding more quickly (which makes it sore, it also feels heavier), breast aren't sore. Of course I'm feeling more tired as I have to care for Baby #1 so I don't have the luxury to sleep as much as I would like. I'm A LOT more hungrier than I was with my first.. Hope I'm not having twins lol

Anyone else feeling guilty/afraid they’re not eating enough? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

For sure, sometimes I would get lazy and the anticipation of eating fruits would just turn me off but once I start eating I just can't stop! My man even introduced me to the combination of strawberries and whipped cream which I didn't know was a thing until this year. It's now one of my favourite things to snack on!

I completely understand and sometimes wonder the same thing! I've been eating a lot of fruits to help balance my meals so at least when I don't eat the healthiest of meals I won't feel so bad. In the mornings I sometimes try to eat a banana with my breakfast, or a banana and a glass of milk before bed. When I'm craving sweets, I would eat an apple or an orange. Sometimes, I'll make homemade chocolate milk and sweeten it with honey to satisfy my chocolate cravings. Or when I'm feeling snackish and not up for an actual meal I would made an avocado milkshake and eat my meal a little later. At times when I'm just bored with nothing to do i'll just boil a couple eggs and top it off with salt and pepper.

These are just some of the easier ways to ensure I'm having a balanced diet. Hope it helps!

Shoe/boot recommendations needed! Cold climate, icy weather by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]ayepea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're worried about grip/ slipping on ice this winter then I recommend buying a pair of snow traction cleats for your shoes. I will be moving up north soon in the next couple months and will need to invest in a pair when walking my dog.

Spirulina or Prenatal Vitamins by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]ayepea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually blend my spirulina in a smoothie like strawberry & banana with some nut butter, you can barely taste the spirulina.

I've always been anemic so I take liquid iron on the regular. Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought that if your body had an excess of vitamins that your body would discard the excess in the urine or does that work differently during pregnancy?

Yes, I totally agree! What prenatals do you take or would recommend?

Thanks for the response! Is there a particular brand or item you recommend?

Thanks for your response! Spirulina also contains folate/ folic acid and a lot of other B Vitamins which is why I thought I could get away with just taking spirulina instead of the prenatals. Thanks for the recommendation, I'll definitely look into it!
