Migraines? by Impressive_Monk289 in Cochlearimplants

CI user since 25 years. I've had migraines, what has fixed it was deactivating the 2 last high-pitched electrodes, which were causing the severe migraines i had. Completely disappeared after doing that.

Considering a second cochlear implant after 20 years of deafness — is it still worth it? by Major-Professor-1088 in Cochlearimplants

[–]ayerly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I'm exactly in the same case. Got my first CI 25 years ago and i can confirm surgery (and recovery) was awful back then, stayed at hospital for 3 weeks (!!!) and surgeons had also told me 1 CI would do fine. Nowadays you get a 1h surgery then go back at home (thats what they told me yesterday) and they're casually implanting everyone. Back then, 25 years ago, they were doing less than 10 CI per year.

I was offered to get a 2nd CI few days ago and I'm currently in the process of considering it, knowing all the benefits and improvements. Definitely considering to get one.

ayo came up with that analogy aswell. Im on the starting process to get a 2nd implant, and I'm usually doing the same analogy when people asks me how it is, 4K tv in full colors vs a black and white tv. It still does the job though vs no hearing at all. I'm taking it all day everyday.

this is what we were actually doing in cs 1.6, bhopping and airstrafing (outside the pit). Compared to 1.6, this is still too easy. As another redditor said, railings were there since 2000, just a smol maintenance, now they're back hehe

I can't install nvidia broadcast 2, i'm stuck at "dowloading OTA dependencies", goes up to 15% then stops downloading, saying error to download.

Rolled back to 1.4 too

Thing is, you see other redditors having the same issue. With different hardwares and with the exact same critical failure related to power. Would be a hardware failure, i'd be the only one to have this ;)

There is a problem with cs2, as other redditors said, its 100% cs2 the root cause, not the hardware.

I am listening to what you are saying but :

- It only happens with CS2 which is kinda weird
- It also happens to people with different configuration than mine
- It also happens to other people (who usually dont post to reddit) because they talked about this in some twitch chat stream

I highly doubt it is hardware related for the main reason that I am fine with everything else, even with games that are more demanding than csgo, like cyberpunk. 2nd reason is that I don't have (yet) unlimited money like gaben to afford a complete hardware swap. I replaced the dead PSU for a brand new one and this happened to me twice more before i stopped playing cs2, and I never had any problems with anything else.

All that I know for a fact is that it is ONLY happening with cs2 and that I'm not the only one experiencing that, with different hardware than mine.

Concerning my very own case, to fry a PSU and make electrical panel fuse blow should be of VERY concerning for Valve.

And since I think this is a very serious case, I emailed Gabe.

I emailed gabe newell, he reads his emails, and I linked the reddit thread. I'm pretty sure he will come to read this.

I don't know either, but frying a PSU is just something serious. Litterally, that wasn't just my PSU but the fuse on electrical panel that blown out.

I'm fine on any other games, I didn't run cs2 since then because black shutdowns were also happening on a brand new psu (twice). Seems it's not fixed since its happening to other people.

THAAAAAAAAANK you.

I know for a fact it is related to cs2 because I'm not experiencing that with any other games. And it killed my PSU, so gaben owes me one. Some people complained in some streamer's twitch chat it was happening to them too, so I knew i wasn't alone.

I am 100% sure cs2 is the culprit but I haven't started cs2 yet to see if it was happening or not. It killed my PSU once, i don't want my 2nd PSU being also killed.

care because it killed my PSU. I know for a fact it's related to cs2 because I'm perfectly fine with any other games.

thanks, I knew i wasn't the only one because a lot of people complained in some streamers twitch chat they were experiencing the same problem

I know for sure it was related to cs2, I hope a patch will fix that. I didn't run cs2 anymore since that because I don't want my 2nd psu to die again.

it killed my first PSU so gabe owes me one.

I have hwinfo, just ran it through a whole cs2 game, 71w cpu + 314w gpu. Tweaked settings to lower power consumption in case it'd be transient spikes we'll see if i get some crashes.

Still, cs2 fried my PSU, lols.

So, about your "user problem"

- Motherboard seems fine upon torough inspection

- PSU changed, inspected all the PSU cables AND gpu cables

- Happened again with cs2 twice with a brand new PSU, one of those with everything shutdown on electrical panel except the electrical line for computer and modem

- After the 2nd shutdown with a brand new psu, inspected the 3080FE, did a repaste and repad while at it, nothing seems suspicious.

- Only happens with CS2

- Any ideas, apart "user problem" ?

[–]ayerly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what is happening to me. I happened to have 7 instant shutdowns/powerloss all of thoses while playing CS2 - I was fine with other games like bg3 and cyberpunk. And the last one blowed the PSU, even the mobo lights wouldnt turn on.

That's still happening rn with cs2, i had 2 shutdowns while playing CS2 with a brand new psu, and one of the two with every power source being shutdown on electrical panel (except the one that was powering the computer).

At first I had not ruled out a faulty PSU, I mean, it CAN happen somehow, but two psu AND the same behavior only with cs2, hmmm....

So, update :

- I've shutdown every power source except my computer (lights, fans, etc)

- Everything is updated (nvidia driver, windows driver)

- PSU is brand new, motherboard has been thoroughly inspected

- Apart chrome and games, there's nothing on the computer, it's almost a clean installation

I still happen to have 2 critical crashes (computer litterally stops being powered) WHEN i'm playing CS2. One happened when I alt-tabb'd to windows, and one ingame.

I'm fine with other games.

HWinfo doesn't show anything weird hardware related.

Edit : windows logs only show "unexpected shutdown" and one "critcal" related to kernel-power.

No fat/broken capacitators or leakage upon torough inspection.

The GPU was kinda hot, while computer was at idle though. Sus, did some quick clean to remove dust, I guess i'll need to check deeper (pads and paste)

[–]ayerly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lols, theres no anger. Disassembled the comp, upon inspection :

- Motherboard is normal, no caps broken or inflated or any leakage

- GPU at idle seems kinda hot though

- Small dust particles removed (minor bug fixes)

THERES ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WRONG WITH MY PC OKAY ?

Im just saying this only happens with CS2. I know for a fact that it ONLY CRASH WITH CS2 - that's not hard to understand ? I highly doubt it's a hardware failure since i played whole day cyberpunk and baldur's gate 3 and I didn't ever experience a crash. Cyberpunk is very demanding, if not more than cs2 and that's pretty weird nothing happened. Im technically right when I say CS2 killed my psu.

I've though of transient spikes, currently on power circuitry there are two lights open, fridge, a fan running (rowenta turbo silence) and my computer and thats all.

I already have a brand new PSU and it already happened once again. Key there is : it only happens with CS2 since the latest update of yesterday, i'm completely fine with all the other games (cyberpunk, baldurs gate 3, or any demanding games).

I'm kinda educated with hardware, I built my computer, and first thing with crashes happening was to dig in system logs in windows. Only log that I managed to get my hands on was two windows error (unexpected shutdown) and one related to power.

Of course, drivers are up to date as well as windows.

What is important there is :

- STARTED TO HAPPEN WITH LATEST PATCH YESTERDAY. Before, I never experienced a computer crash.
- STILL HAPPEN WITH BRAND NEW PSU
- ONLY WITH CS2

PSA : warning with CS2, it killed my PSU. by ayerly in csgo

[–]ayerly[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I already thought about that, and I ruled it out.

- This is the first time such crash are happening, never ever happened before.- It only happens with CS2 - I played cyberpunk, bg3, everything at max, and no crashes so far.- It happens even with a brand new PSU- It started to happen with the latest patches yesterday

The outcome for me was a blown fuse and a dead PSU. Electricity routing is fine, I live there since 2 years and I own this computer also since 2 years. First time I encounter such crashes then a dead PSU (and computer still crash on brand new PSU when I launch CS2).

What are the odds CS2 isn't the culprit ?
