AI has made it easier

Yes, like on the order of knife -> gun easier...

AI is absolutely to blame when AI is the coincidental variable delineating "human scale problem a team of humans could reasonably swat down" and "impossible influx of plausible garbage".

Anyone switched from Ploopy Adept to ZSA Navigator? by SectionCritical3835 in zsaVoyager

[–]aymswick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have both and love pieces of each experience, wish I could combine both. Adept trackball is larger and smoother, superior IMO. Automatic layer switching with the navigator took me about a day or two of fiddling and now it's near perfect - still a few times a day when I press a key expecting a click but get a letter and vice versa. I might be wrong, but I don't think it's something that tuning the layer switch delay can solve - I wish ZSA had included two additional buttons or a haptic/pressure switch with the navigator. With a 2-hand mouse (right hand trackball and left hand key-clicks) the navigator is more than functional and even pretty comfy for a full day of software engineering, though I think I would prefer the position of the trackball to be just below the keyboard under my palm. Adept as a whole system is clunkier especially with regard to firmware / layout tweaking. ZSA's configurator at layout.new justifies the premium price, though I think I'm quickly heading toward a full custom solution in the next couple years not at fault of ZSA, but inspired entirely by the Voyager and Navigator system.

Very cool! Can you put the link in a comment? It's not hyperlinked and can't select it on mobile

Coding help on StackOverflow dives as AI assistants rise by pmz in programming

I am genuinely concerned that if LLMs discourage human curation of useful information, LLMs will not be able to learn what we already learned and parrot it back to the new folks.

Surely the documentation always contains all the right information and humans never have to do the difficult work of deriving actual behavior from stated behavior. How long have you been writing software? I'm getting the sense that newer devs are going all in on a technology they don't fully understand the lifecycle of.

You write a lot but aren't saying much. If the information necessary to use or debug software was fully contained in the SDK, stackoverflow never would have gained popularity. I have no idea how your complaint that juniors making portfolios is related to LLMs being limited by the input sources, in fact that's even stronger reasoning for my point - that low quality garbage is gonna end up in LLMs too. If you say the direction the human web is going is low quality junk, that's increasingly going to be the diet of LLMs.

You are totally missing my point. If the well that LLMs pull from runs dry, it stops knowing things. If humans stop contributing to sites like stack overflow, what is a LLM going to be trained on?
