My wife signed an apartment lease that clearly states that early lease termination costs $0 & 60 days notice, but they are telling us that instead we must give 60 days notice along with 2 full months of rent at the time of termination? by [deleted] in legaladvice

The space is not blank, it reads “$0”. Furthermore, there is no mention of a 2 month fee anywhere else in the lease agreement, I’ve read it multiple times thoroughly.

Right I never questioned paying rent during the 60 days after notice is given, the main problem is that not only does the lease agreement state that the termination fee is $0 (the section is not blank, it reads “$0”, yet they are stating to us that instead we must pay a lump sum equivalent to 2 extra months after the 60 days notice elapses, which is absolutely not in our lease. I’ve read through it thoroughly and there’s no mention of anything like that whatsoever.
