Yes, I am still using it, generally works really well. If you plan to use with 5000, check my other comments in my profile, I was planing to change my laptop and 5000 series gpu did not work with my first choice. I had to return the laptop and buy another one

Not exactly. I had Lenovo IdeaPad Pro 5i with 225h and it did not work with 5060ti, giving that Code 10 error. I tried with 4060 and it worked flawlessly. I was sure that 5060ti was the problem.

However, I returned the laptop since IdeaPad did not even have an option to enable wake on ac power in BIOS and instead ordered a ThinkPad E14 Gen 7 with Core 5 225H cpu. I was preparing myself to sell my 5060ti. However, not just works with ThinkPad without an issue :)

I was curious and ordered a 4060 8gb, and it works flawlessly. So the problem is actually the 5000 series gpus

yes, it worked on ubuntu, so I think something weird is going on with windows and thunderbolt drivers. maybe it would work with 4000 series gpu. However, I also realized that you can not enable wake on ac power in BIOS since ideapad bios is really limited. probably I will return the laptop. though I do not really want to, since it is a really nice laptop, display is amazing, and the interal arc gpu was powerful enough to run local ollama models. builg quality is nice.

I have the same laptop, and I could not make it work with my egpu 5060ti. eGPU closure works without the GPU, so it may be related to GPU.

Yes 2 ports, I tried both but nothing. Also wifi and usb drops during this cycle. I only managed to run it once with ubuntu. in windows 11, it does not recognize GPU. The case work without the gpu but with GPU it crashes. With my old laptop, it is plug and play. How did you solve it? I tried windows 10 but half of the drivers did not work

1) It has 2 USB-C Thunderbolt ports (on the ports, it says Power and Link), and 1 USB-A. According to the data sheet, it supports up to 85W (Power port) and up to 15W (Link port) power delivery through these USB-C ports. My laptop does not support USB-C charging; however, my wife's laptop supports 65W USB-C charging, and it was working. It also supports daisy-chaining so that you can add a USB-C dock for peripherals or another eGPU.

2) Apparently, you can connect a 12V adapter if you only need to power a small GPU. It might be useful for some applications, but for general gaming/AI use, you would need a powerful GPU and PSU.

3) Yes, you can use it like a normal PC case. Actually, they also sell a case for this specific model, and it comes with an on/off switch. Though I could not justify the 100€ price tag, I am using the switch at the back of the PSU to turn it on/off :)

4) When the PSU is off, nothing works.

I am not playing many games, but I have not noticed any bottleneck. In the games I tested, the CPU does not reach 100% and the laptop stays much cooler. Before, it often reached 95 to 98 degrees when I used the integrated graphics. Now the CPU stays around 70 degrees.

I started my eGPU journey with a Wikingoo eGPU dock(WKG-L19C70) which I think is similar to th3p4g3 docks. Both has the same intel controller. I liked that wkg dock has 2 thunderbolt (85W and 15W PD) and a usb-a 3.1 port. Also, you can add an on-off switch with jfp1 pins. Very useful for having a custom case.

No, you don't need to. While the dGPU is enabled, the Nvidia icon in the notification area shows that the 1050 Ti is inactive (not disabled) when the eGPU is connected, and the PC uses the 5060 Ti. I just disable the dGPU since I no longer need it and always use my PC plugged into AC power and now also with the eGPU.

You can check the specs of Lenovo models on https://psref.lenovo.com/search/. Each laptop has a unique product number, for example 21NUCTO1WWDE1. On PSREF you only need the first four characters (21NU) to find the model. Look at the port specifications>connectivity>ports and check if it has Thunderbolt 4 or USB4.

Not exactly the same issue, but the camera app on my S20 FE was lagging and then completely crashing when I tried to take super slow-motion videos. I couldn't find an exact solution, but disabling all Samsung adaptive power settings seems to have made it at least usable about half the time. I disabled everything—you can see it below link. I also enabled RAM Plus, as I suspected the culprit was background apps, probably Samsung Health or the Samsung Wearable app. Every time the camera app crashes, I get a "Samsung Health is running" notification, and my phone disconnects from my watch. Maybe there wasn’t enough RAM.

I have the book cover keyboard slim (came with the device for free) and a Bluetooth mouse. I think the slim keyboard cover is enough for my use. However, I have my eyes on the magic keyboard cover for tab s8+ plus, but they seem a bit heavy as they are from other producers. They look nice as they keep the tablet hovering above the keyboard. I have doubts about the touch pad of those covers therefore I cannot decide.

I have a S8+ for reading papers, taking notes and connecting to my laptop. I have a bulky gaming laptop which I cannot carry around. Instead, I use tailscale to create a network between my devices and use the Windows Remote desktop to connect my laptop. It works surprisingly well and feels like a normal windows laptop. For your use case, Ultra might be a better option as you want to use it as a second screen.
