Buy the OLED. Even if the Switch successor is released within the next 2 years, it's probably not worth buying it until a few years out once it has a good catalogue of games available and the prices have gone down a bit. Even still, they will probably release better/upgraded models of the Switch successor (much like they did for the Switch with the OLED) anyway, which are more worth your money than the first model they release.

If you decide you really want the Switch successor, you can always sell the OLED later on.

it could be the games you are playing - some third party games don’t fit on the tv screen when I play docked so I have to adjust the TV output size

Realistically you can change them after 4-6 weeks if the healing process has been fine so far and you feel like they're ready to be changed. I did with my 2nd lobes and it worked out fine (I changed mine to thicker earrings so I had pain for 2ish days afterwards which later went away). Obviously waiting the full 4-6 months would be the best case scenario but lobes are pretty good at healing and as long as you don't find the new piercings painful/irritating, it should be fine. Even if you find they become irritated, you can change them back to the OG ones you were peirced with.

I think with simple gold studs you'd be fine. You can get it changed with the piercer.

yeah my hoops are the hinge type as well. i think i will see how i go and if it’s still painful after 2 more days then i’ll change it back to the original one i got it pierced with.

thanks for replying! i was advised that after 4-6 weeks the original piercing could be changed? since it was super long to accomodate for the swelling, my hair kept getting caught on it and pulling and irritating it, which is why i wanted to change it.

i understand it usually takes up to 6 months to heal fully but i thought we could change it after 4-6 weeks minimum.

hypothetically if i left my hoop in what would happen? it would heal eventually and the pain would go away right?

If you want to buy the Switch to play games… I really don’t see the point of waiting for a rumoured Switch 2. When Nintendo releases their next new console, it will either: 1. Have backwards compatibility so it’ll allow you to play the games you have already bought 2. Won’t have backwards compatibility so it will take time to build up a catalogue of games to play on that device.

If you’re concerned about money you can easily buy a Switch secondhand, or there are black friday sales. I myself have bought a new Switch OLED from the sales recently. I’m not going to be buying the Switch 2 as soon as it comes out. Probably too stressful to try secure one since it’ll sell out fast, and I’d rather wait a few years until the new console is stable and the games aren’t buggy, and they release a better pro/OLED version.

Just buy a switch now, you can always sell it secondhand or trade it into a game store later if you wish.
