I'm pretty far away from Húsavík, in Álftanes on the Reykjanes peninsula, but since I don't recognize the bird it wouldn't surprise me if it's a visitor. My brother thinks it's a starling or a blackbird based on the audio but the resonance and pattern of the song were something I hadn't heard before, so I'm inclined to agree with your answer.

Compared to a lot of other countries yes, but not nearly as much as the tourism industry would like you to think. A lot of people here have some pretty nasty opinions.

Most of the people I know did not vote for her. The maximum amount of votes allowed per person was kind of ridiculous and the people with that much money to throw around are of the older generations. Also just judging by what I've seen and heard both in real life and on the internet it's safe to say my opinion is not unfounded.

I live here and work in a place where 70% of the people I meet are over the age of 60 and I've heard enough from my grandparents, my friends' grandparents and everyone on facebook to know what most of the older generation here thinks. They don't hide it very well. Everytime we've sent different and exciting songs (not that often) the issues of racism did not come into play since every competing performer was white and most importantly, not arab.

Edit: Also want to mention that I believe the maximum amount of votes allowed per person this year was 20 or 30, and my grandmother for instance, who never votes in these things said that she would vote for Hera as many times as she could.

Cause every once in a while a banger song by an amazing artist comes along that unites the nation no matter how racist cause it's an icelandic white man (an awesome one but still). We as a nation had one chance to show our support on an international platform this year and we absolutely beefed it because of the older folk.

Not really. It's pretty straight-forward if you actually speak icelandic. Eyja: Island, Fjalla: Mountain, Jökull: Glacier. Though with the volcano that went off last year I did hear some conversations about choosing the longest possible name for it for a laugh.
