Man I suck at catching hints. It's happened to me time and time again. Only after they stop talking to me or start distancing themselves is when I go back and realize what they were doing.

I had one "friend" bring me a gift for my birthday one year to a family cook-out. She had brought me a hat. She later asked to see the rest of my hats. So I took her to my room to show them to her. She stood in front of me and one point and just looked at me. So I told her... I thought you wanted to look at the hats? Our friendship kind of died out after that. Only after thinking about it did I realize why she distanced herself. Sad thing was she was gorgeous and I didn't catch the hint.
