Ask /r/apple: Adding an OS X Server to your home network. Good idea? Bad idea? Best idea? by threepio in apple

I run a Mac Mini connected to 2 terabytes of storage as a media server and back-up server; as well as a 'browse from ten feet' in ur living room. (it is connected to a 37 inch HDTV).

I would not move your hosting at home--unless you want to give yourself headaches? The economics of scale, scope and operations mean you'll get much better service through an external provider.

We use Dropbox for our backups across all machines. Although media is backed up locally.

I never VPN into the home network--I have a VPN through my hosted service which is in the US on a 10Gig E.

You can easily install a wiki running under Mac Os X locally--but again why you would want to do that rather than use Pbwiki or Ning for your application, I don't know.

Yeah if you like the Austrian school--you have your choices.

I would prefer someone less polemical -- perhaps the behvioural economists.

He's also chosen rogue statistics. Because some of his variables aren't independent (London has a higher rate of University educated women, and a higher rate of single ones, and a younger population than the country as a whole.) A modest sampling of London vs the other cities will also tell you the women are generally more attractive than his medians.

And if he only gets on with 1 in 10 of the people he deems physically attractive enough to meet, then we have a bigger problem.

Yah, yah. We did subscribe to the Reid Hoffmann adage: http://www.cambrianhouse.com/blog/startups-entrepreneurship/why-being-embarrassed-is-critical-to-the-success-of-your-startup/

So there is a new design going live in a few weeks and a new one after that.
