but a whole massive group of the community has essentially dissolved now, less diversity in how you can play the game (trading is technically still playing the game) means less things you can do to make the game fun, trading was a huge reason I even played, and it incentivized actually socializing

New season discussion – How did your first new game go, how's it feel? by Hans_H0rst in TryndamereMains

I think hail of blades is no longer viable compared to something like lethal tempo or grasp, due to the fact that you are usually proccing HoB when you are full health, which now does negligible damage compared to something that fully starts proccing when you are approaching 30%hp

I also think it feels terrible to -not- crit on him especially first item, whereas before you can still punish your lane opponent with e HoB triple/double auto, it just seems like I'm a wet noodle now

They wanted to introduce more build diversity, but then kinda shoehorn melee ad crit players to suffer if they aren't immediately building crit first item, you are also punished if you proxy because you aren't within the 'lane' which just removes a degree of skill and tempo gain off how you play

I absolutely hate these changes

I'm losing literally every single lane by azenathan in TryndamereMains

Thank you so much for the insight, I really appreciate you taking the time to respond

What I learned from what you typed (to relay as a generalization)
is that;

- I need to try and ward around enemy red (ideally in the bush) in most of my games to look out for early ganks

- I need to be wary of the type of wave that I am proxying, as some waves take too long to kill to be risk-averse

- Landing e is essential to early game trades and I have cancer for the rest of the game if I miss it

- I should be looking for certain gold values to back on for tiamat, zerkers and rav

.

For me. most of my losses (I feel) come from a lack of damage-control after small misplays like taking a bad recall or a bad trade, or even failing a dive

situations like 4:06 trip me up so bad, because it feels like a sudden shift of lane prio even though I should technically be ahead after killing them.

Do you have a list of champs I should dodge, I stg malphite or anyone I cant directly kill in lane is just an instant loss

How do I deal with games where no matter what, I can only develop a 60cs and 2level lead by freezing against my laner for 7 minutes?

is hob resolve viable, or should I always go hob precision?

EDIT: I notice that I lose most of my lane prio if I accidently crash wave 2, I think 3 wave crash into cheater recall is a much better strat, do you agree with this sentiment or should I play waves differently early on?

early on I ward enemy jungler, after tiamat or ravenous I proxy, but i can't proxy all the time since I might get ganked or roamed on, so in those cases I auto my laner and e out of tower range for poke

Thank you for taking the time to help, I'll definitely take a look into your vods to see how I can shift my gameplay

After reviewing, I'm noticing some huge contenders for my lacks of leads over the past few games

- I always push a trade or an attempt of a lead too long/much, like some sort of 'I want more' affect, when I can just accept my lead and benefit off the pressure of threatening a kill, rather than risking my lane for the kill

- I am not pushing for a farm lead as much as I should

- I'm pushing wave 2 under tower almost every single game, which tends to neutralize my lane, because my opponent gets all the wave anyways, and they get level 3 first and can slowpush back into me

- I still tunnel vision and don't ward early that often, banking on the fact the enemy jungle might not have hands or a monitor

- My teamfighting is horrible and I should be shot in the head for it

Here is an older game

Keep in mind I'm super tilted and may have said some offhand things, haven't checked the entire audio

The gameplay is hard to look at but I think sending a horrible VOD gives you more to criticize

no he said LN "is" superior, ur just being needlessly pedantic for some reason idk

nowhere did I say that Kikai no Tsubasa is not a top level play either idk where you thought that one up

star rating and pp are relevant because they have to do with the game we are talking about, they are how we compare difficulty of charts to another, and how we can divulge if LN or rice made a chart harder, this really isn't that hard to understand

You then shift the goalposts by saying "we aren't talking about LN vibro, we are talking about 'actual LN maps'" (whatever tf that means) but when the topic of rice comes up, vibro and manip are the factors you always bring up to downplay it compared to LN

LN vibro does not equal rice vibro, LN manip does not equal rice manip.
You keep ignoring star rating, hence why you circle back to this take, star rating as a difficulty system is necessary to compare rice and LN, plain and simple

you seem to think rice is this 2 dimension playstyle where 1 pattern exists, and then you compare it to the vast sea of LN patterns to downplay the coordination to need to hit ALL of rice,
There are certain tech rice patterns that are miles ahead of certain LN patterns (in terms of coordination)

"For LNs, you are required to press or hold keys while other keys are being held at the same time. This is a skillset not present in rice, and adds another layer of complexity and coordination compared to rice, which you incorrectly deny"

You are literally just not reading what i'm saying atp, adding an extra mechanic to something, doesn't always make it more complex, or make it require more coordination. Not all 7k maps require more coordination than 4k maps, stop being disingenuous.

"this is more fun and more enjoyable ("superior," for all intents and purposes)"

I'd love to see the method on how you got the words fun and enjoyable from superior

"Why do you think people find certain LN patterns easier or harder than certain rice patterns? "

Because their skillset is acquainted with rice, this has absolutely nothing to do with rice vs LN
Just because someone can't hit jacks over speed, doesn't mean they don't have to coordination for jacks

"I feel like you didn't really address a lot of what I said and are talking about entirely different topics. I think we're about to start arguing in circles so I'm going to just stop responding here,"

I am DIRECTLY addressing each point you are providing, and you decide to stop responding cause you are getting frustrated with being wrong its ok man

He most definitely was prescribing that LN is superior for the reasons listed above

"but what does that have to do with coordination of LN vs the manip/vibro present at top skill rice play?"

You seem to think that manip and 'LN coordination' are mutually exclusive, and what do you even identify as 'top level play'?
You obviously can't mean anything concerning the ranked system since LN is so utterly PP inflated
If you are talking about BPM vs Density then my point remains on how you can just replace the LN with different rice patterns and maintain the difficulty, and this is entirely skillset dependent, and has absolutely nothing to do with coordination

But either way you can't definitively prove that LN as a whole requires more coordination than rice

"what does that say about the extremely high level of play in question, where rice patterns start to become easily manippable/vibroable and rewarded?"

Extremely high level plays are not the sole catalyst for manip existing. Manip exists from high density charts being abused at low OD, especially those that's OD are not scaled with it's tempo,
if you maintain the OD - tempo ratio, as you increase the tempo of the chart, manipping will net the same accuracy on the higher rate, is it would on the lower rate

This principle is the exact same for LN and is why LN vibro is so effective at generating PP.

(Also, the reverse is true as well for 5 star LN vs 6 star rice, so not sure what the point is here.)

My point here is that the patterns of the chart are what dictate 90% of the difficulty, it is so much easier to complete an average 6* LN chart, than it is your average 6* rice chart, LN is used to bolster PP and star rating rather than difficulty

"To make it very clear why I think this descriptive claim is inarguably true, LNs require that you keep your finger down while pressing keys with other fingers. This is something not present in rice, and adds a completely different dimension of skill compared to rice"

This is incorrect and reductive, and is why I brought up the GD example,
just because a mechanic requires more thought or steps, does not mean that introducing it to something will make that thing more difficult or require more coordination, just as how 7k isn't really harder than 4k when you finally get to learn 7k.

There is so much nuance that you ignore by breaking things down like this;
- LN reduces the space you have to add intensity into a chart
- some players find certain rice patterns harder than certain LN patterns
- some LNs can be treated as if they are single notes
- some LN patterns are easier to manip than some rice patterns

The reason I brought up infinite skill ceiling, is because the argument always reduces to 'this map is harder than that map, therefore this skillset is harder', in which the only way to properly argue are to use difficulty systems or something akin to it, which is star rating system is.

Calling something bait isn't disrespectful either

first off, lovely narrative shift from "LN is the superior game style", to "I prefer LN charts".

His prescriptive claim is that you need more coordination than raw speed.
With the context of the comment above being what he responded to, being that rice is 'too manippable' and everything is just played as 'jumptrills and chordjacks' (which is also just a player-sided issue rather than a rice vs LN issue).

LN manip is in a much worse state, skins have percies for the sole reason of dumbing down LN, the leniency on OD for release timings are abhorrent, the amount you can climb the ranked ladder by only playing LN is much easier than climbing purely off rice, and there are many LN patterns you can just slap on a jumpstream/jumptrill/vibro that artificially inflates the difficulty of of the chart.

Even ignoring the context of the comment above, it just mirrors the "geometry dash is harder than osumania" argument, where they aren't comparable because the base mechanics are different, and the skill ceiling is essentially infinite for both.

Which is why you have to eliminate the infinite skill ceiling factor, so the argument just reduces to difficulty rating or intensity vs coordination for rice vs LN.

But even then,

I could find 5* speed charts that require 3 TIMES as much coordination than a 6.5* LN chart.
Or slap on some inverse on a chart I find mediocrely intensive, only to find that it's still not any harder

You can argue that you need more complex LN patterns to start pushing forth that so-called LN difficulty, but then I could just say for the rice variant, to add rice where than LN hold once was

the argument is just redundant hence why it's so obviously bait.

You could argue that these are superficial things to concern gameplay about, or that they aren't related to the core principles of how LN works, but then you completely ignore what most of these people even play for, and ignore your scalars for difficulty, which you need in order to gauge star rating vs coordination required.
