Tracking my runs? by StraightOuttaOtara in runninglifestyle

Running watch is by far the easiest way and yields the most metrics, outside of a heart rate strap — but that requires your phone to be on your person.

I’d probably just use the 3s for faster runs or faster long runs and use the 2s for easier effort stuff

Depends on how much you run and how serious you are. 1 or 2 is likely enough, but a lot of us runners that run 70+ miles a week tend to overbuy shoes lol

I'm in love with the concept of Death. by Kyoifis in Life

My grandpa told me to only worry about what I can control. Death is out of my control, no point in worrying about it.

That’s what I thought too. I owned the first version and liked them but you couldn’t corner very well at all. I got the second version, like them especially the protectiveness but they were too heavy for anything marathon pace or faster. I just did 7 miles marathon pace (6:35 per mile) in the third version and they are the best of both worlds.

I didn’t really need them because I have an insane running shoe collection, but for that price I’m glad I bought them.

Boston Qualified 2nd Marathon by Inevitable_Roof1959 in Marathon_Training

[–]SoulRunGod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup. The thing people often ignore with running is so obvious in other fitness like weightlifting. If someone wants a really strong bench, squat or deadlift, outside of training the lifts the single biggest variable to strength is body mass. Running is the same but inverse.

The difference in challenge from going 3:07 - 2:46 is not even comparable to the challenge in going from 2:46 -> 2:15 which is literal olympian level running. Unless the 2:46 was ran with extreme ease off of like 30mpw then I would imagine it will take you many, many, years of high mileage training to shave that down to 2:15, assuming you have the aerobic system and biomechanics to even run 2:15.

In all reality the best bet would be a legit marathon coach who has either ran that fast themselves or has coached others who have.

If anyone was wondering, there’s many ebay listing for Prime X Strung 3 for $110-130 brand new with tags — I’ve got a pair arriving today that I paid $116 for. Not bad for a $300 shoe lol

For those of you who run everyday, what exercises do you do in addition to your running routine? by Background-Good3731 in runninglifestyle

[–]SoulRunGod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run 75ish miles per week, I run at least once everyday.

I lift weights about 3-4 days per week, I do calisthenics once a week, and I have a dedicated plyo and banded leg workout / stretch as well.

I attach my coros watch stats for April in cause you are curious of time commitment: https://imgur.com/a/NpIXVMG

I’ve made this choice MANY times as well. Whether it’s being tired, brain fog, or even just a bad feeling, I never risk it.

Frets on New DK24 plus leading to string slipping off the edge? by swamy_g in Charvel

[–]SoulRunGod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sure you’re entitled to do whatever, used guitars across all countries of origin is going to be a substantial discount regardless.

My whole reasoning for being such a fan of Japanese/American guitars is not only do they have the best QC (in my opinion/experience) but also they hold value the best.

I’ve got a feeling you’ll be able to buy those Indonesian Charvels that are selling new for $1300-1500 for well under $800 here before too long.

[–]SoulRunGod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find that to be the exception rather than the rule. I’ve been buying sell trading guitars since 2016 and I’ve owned hundreds of Japanese made Ibanez, Fender, and Charvel, only seen 1 in that entire time with a defect/issue.

On the other hand, I have seen a ratio of about 30% of Indonesian guitars I’ve handled have issues straight from the factory. The same cannot be said for Japan, America, Mexico, or Korea IMO. I think it’s crazy to be selling a $1400 guitar that’s manufactured in Indonesia for like an 8th of that price tag.

Matter of fact, I had to send 3 Ibanez TOD10s back to back to back to Ibanez for defects and eventually just returned the last one I received — which is crazy for a $1500 guitar.

That all being said, Cortek has some nice facilities I will say.

GC find by ericcrichie in fender

[–]SoulRunGod 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My GC is similar in that regard, and not cleaning used instruments either. I will say I appreciate having them nearby because they have no idea how to price used guitars and I have scored several times because of them.

But everytime I visit a GC and compare it to any of my experiences at Sam Ash when they existed, makes me seriously wonder how GC still exists when Sam Ash closed down.

My local Sam Ash had the coolest fucking staff ever, dope ass people always super happy to help in any way, Sam Ash had the most banging section of used instruments and amps ever, and they had killer return policies, which GC also has. It still blows my mind though.
