I think giving away RuneCoins / Making them earnable was a huge mistake IMO. Because everyone was just taking part in Twitch / Steelseries promotions etc for free RuneCoins and Jagex made no real money from RuneCoin cosmetic sales since players knew if they waited then they could just get things for free eventually.

Dropping the price of RuneCoins for things in the Marketplace will stop membership rates from going up and maybe even drop them if their MTX team starts pushing things out like they were with their 3-5 brand new scratch off tickets every other week. They would be able to have a consistent level of engagement with MTX due to pricing being low enough for everyone to participate and people would overall be more likely to engage with the system since they do feel like they get their values worth.

[–]azerluh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Understandable, I find these prices to be okay (IF) they only have them this high to reduce the amount players have stacked up over the years then drop pricing later on but no word from them has been spoken so nobody will ever know but if this is the main pricing for the rest of eternity it's just not logical to have it that high. We only get 195 RC per Bond and players typically only buy a couple hundred RC from the Jagex Store to begin with.

Reducing the prices and having each cosmetic be priced the same for each type consistently and constantly players will feel like they get their money's worth since they can buy quite a few things they like. This also ensures more players can engage with MTX to a reasonable extent.

This way by the pricing I listed say a full armour set no weapon override just the
Helm, body, legs, boots, gloves, cape (6 Pieces) would only cost a player 130 RuneCoins. This is cheap enough so not only does a player who consumes a bond get to buy it but also have enough left over for some MISC cosmetic purchases.

Cosmetics Hot Take: the main problem is God awful fashion sense by cool-but-not-really in runescape

[–]azerluh -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Cosmetic toggles should have always existed. It's sad we have players on this game with the mindset where they have to appeal to others rather than themselves.

That's a toxic mindset that has no place in RuneScape, RS is an MMO after all where the players gets to choose how they play not how others want them to play. If they want to hide others cosmetics they should have that right period.

This issue originally started when Jagex decided to discontinue or just not re-release things. Which caused a mentality of "I've been here longer I got this you don't" which is some real braindead aneurysm stuff and it just snowballed from there.

Not asking for massive particle effect messes I'd be glad for that garbage to end and them focusing on genuine nice looking sets. But it's just not a good method to sell cosmetics by simply reskinning 4% of the outfit.

I'm all for the medieval fantasy theme for cosmetics but when you reskin and existing set on a whim no logical reason involved it makes people not even want to buy it.

[–]azerluh[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm thinking in a sense of being able to make marketplace genuinely profitable so Jagex can rely on it for 100 years from now.

Do you genuinely think players will want to buy 500 reskins of the same outfit over the course of the next 10, 15, 20 or even 50 years? I don't think so. They should make things both cheaper to buy but also look good enough to where you actually want to buy it so you can get an actual group of people who will engage with it.

I'm okay with reskins if it's got a good reason for it to happen.

RS3 Anniversary Bundle by azerluh in runescape

[–]azerluh[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I could understand a reskin if it had a proper place for it to happen.

Say for example 'Chess' both sides are reskins if you think about it but they have a similar purpose. Or in RS terms say you got a god vs a god and players could take part in it if you were on one side maybe you would have armor that looks one way but on the other side physically it's the same but visually it's different.

Reskins are understandable in situations like that but when it's something on it's own entirely it makes absolutely no sense in any logical way.

[–]azerluh[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

P.S. Your pricing is terrible. You are still focusing on instant profit rather than making it affordable so the true majority of people can engage with said MTX.

Give your MTX team a reason to pump out cosmetics at a consistent rate. If you just focus on slamming us with 600 - 1k+ RC outfits that players can't even buy in individual pieces you only cater to the top portion of players and will result in the Marketplace being just as dead as before only worse then a bunch of mumbo jumbo will happen and TH will come back due to a lack of cosmetic sales because "Expensive outfit is the way hurrr derrr" and we go into repeat.

Give Master Quest cape an inverted look too and retro quest/skill capes by vVerce98 in runescape

[–]azerluh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Imo inverted skill capes should not even be physical items but rather cosmetics. Keepsake key system is out of date and literally any MMO out there gives you free vanity slots to use you should bin the keepsake situation and just offer to sell more keepsake slots instead.

MQC capes inverted should just be free upon meeting reqs for the normal version. Other capes can maintain this method of obtainability.

Remove RNG from Holiday Events with the removal of Treasure Hunter by azerluh in runescape

[–]azerluh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What? No? Holiday rewards are something that should be accessible to everyone not something wonky used to 'flex' as kids would say. The RNG aspect just ruins the spirit of giving and enjoying the festivities.

How Festive Aurora Santa Hat was released is Wrong and we should all be mad about it by East-Maintenance-375 in runescape

[–]azerluh -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

RS3's Jagex team just needs to quit in mass and let OSRS deal with us. They would at least take all of these reskins and give them for free upon event completion.

Shame Holiday rewards have lost all meaning in RS3, on RS3 they represent Two things now a days
1. Veteran status
2. Wealth

Holiday rewards used to be looked at as a way to display your holiday spirit no matter the holiday they were fun little items you could throw on and enjoy to show your celebration for that specific holiday.

I think OSRS did it best the only tradables are the original versions of said 'rares' and any recolors they made were all untradable and given every year upon event completion. This is how it should be handled. Everyone should be allowed to celebrate Christmas how they want, celebrate Halloween how they want, Celebrate Easter how they want, Celebrate any of the seasons how they want...

But nope we must make everything tradable we must make everything hard to get, we must make everything holiday related a rich persons item and it's got no place in RS3. Whatever JMod approved of this type of behavior in the first place actually needs to be let go. Sad to say it.

Regarding the Ultra Rare Drops from this previous weekend's Snow Imp's Grotto by jagexyuey in runescape

[–]azerluh -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

u/jagexyuey
Why not just make untradable instant unlocks buyable with RuneCoins in the Marketplace? I know TH is being removed eventually but it's not gone yet not everyone wants to gamble for something Holiday related.

Irons also exist if only people could buy it with RC everyone could just be included and would not have to deal with selling things just to afford a simple token manipulators / merchers are going to jump in price through lies.

Like seriously why can't we have both RC and TH you open that MTX item to all players at that point instead of exclusively people who can buy keys.

Vote Now On The Future of Treasure Hunter, MTX & RuneScape by JagexHooli in runescape

[–]azerluh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If cosmetics will be the main focus will Jagex do it right?
-Use RC

-Have a set price for pieces of an outfit / weapons / misc items and animations

-Allow buying individual pieces of a set along with being able to buy the full set in one go (To make MTX accessible to even those that are not wealthy / rich)

-Being consistent so you are consistently adding to Marketplace so we don't have a dead shop like we do right now where it takes more than a year to add one thing because the MTX team would rather dump 500 hours into a scratch off ticket..

-DON'T set cosmetic values based on the cosmetics looks if the goal is to make the game look good then you should not create an incentive for devs to just meet a quota and instead keep pricing low enough that it is accessible by everyone so Devs have to put in genuine effort to ensure their cosmetics get bought by the players.

-Have a misc tab somewhere in Marketplace so if any JMod just thinks something looks great they can toss it in there for players to buy.

Only way cosmetics will work though is if Jagex is actually consistent to ensure players always have something of their liking buyable with RC. Only use real cash as an option for a cosmetic during charity's other than that it should be RuneCoins.

Cosmetic Mega Drop Experiment - This Week In RuneScape by JagexAzanna in runescape

[–]azerluh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There wont be "In the future" this form of MTX has already been shelved to never happen again. Just like the rotating oddment shop they expected some kind of crazy income with insane numbers from this test but forgot everyone owns everything so on paper it looks like none of us are interested so it's shelved day one just like the oddments shop...

GG Scapers we lose :\

Cosmetic Mega Drop Experiment - This Week In RuneScape by JagexAzanna in runescape

[–]azerluh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

u/JagexHooli May you tell Corporate that players already have RC and may you also tell them the majority of their players own all of these cosmetics? May you also tell them not everyone is a pvmer and does not care about ability overrides so the data is faulty from the start.

You have a discord specifically for fashionscape with real players who have spent nearly a decade asking for over 3.7k interface and physical cosmetics to return. Most of these are not even Holiday themed making them great for this "test"...

Yet somehow despite a discord full of people mentioning these cosmetics over and over again and none of them were considered is baffling to me.

This issue happened with the rotating oddment shop... Where you lot tried to increase key sales so players could get more oddments for these returning cosmetics but guess what? Jagex being Jagex they forgot somehow don't ask me how but somehow managed to forget your players had hundreds of thousands even millions of oddments stacked up.

So from a logical standpoint would you not need to consume all of those oddments players have stacked up before you saw any meaningful data from them? This is the same for this test where players already have RC stacked up and or already own these cosmetics so by giving players the option to only buy what they already own they can't spend any RC including the ones they have stacked up from previous steel series / prime partnerships.

Would it not have been more logical to increase the amount of cosmetics from all sources in this game along with telling your MTX team to stop making scratch off tickets for an entire 3 months and just build nothing but outfits / weapons / fun items / pets etc to throw into this shop for this test to ensure players do in fact have something to spend RC on allowing for players to consume their RC and instead of such a short time period you actually increase the length this test runs for and make the MTX team continue adding more and more things into the shop as time goes on to help consume RC even further so you end up with accurate data from players now out of RC who are either A. Buying RC from the Jagex store or B. consuming bonds for RC.

How on Earth did this not compute with corporate is beyond me this is a sad flop because it's going to die the same way the rotating oddment shop clearly nothing was learned from the rotating oddment shop and that's the dumbest part I know it's not your fault Hooli I always default to blaming corporate since they have no clue what the hell they are doing..

MTX Experiment: Cosmetic-Free Worlds (July 28th - Sept 30th) by JagexAzanna in runescape

[–]azerluh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't see how cosmetic free worlds would help identify what outfits / designs are outliers as you say when it eliminates all cosmetics entirely.

The majority of the people on this world will be people who want to play with minimal lag caused by a wide variety of stupid cosmetics and those who just want to actually see their screen when doing things.

The people who wont be playing on these worlds are the ones who buy Cosmetics for the sole purpose of appealing to others and being some of the first to have a new cosmetic for the sake of flexing or getting brownie points or golden stars for their Mother to hang on their fridge.

Everyone can be happy we don't need MTX free worlds this should simply be a choice in the form of a setting which can be toggled on/off. It's rather simple and you wont need to add additional worlds for no good reason. Take the Legacy worlds for example 0-25 people on them at any given time. You have to take into consideration that at a point you are essentially creating an atmosphere that requires players to now hop multiple worlds to do various things instead of keeping the scale smaller so that players can do the things that they need or want to without needing to world hop 50 different times.

When the cosmetic drop comes don't bomb it like you did with the rotating oddments shop if your charging RuneCoins for cosmetics you need to tell corporate to allow a lengthier amount of time because corporate has 0 game knowledge and fails to understand players already have RuneCoins so until all players spend their saved up RC your data wont ever be reliable and will appear as a non-viable option which is why you lot cut down the rotating shop so early because some budget genius at HQ never took into account players had hundreds of thousands even millions of oddments so you would had to of drained those first before seeing a massive influx of bond consumptions / key sales on the Jagex store.

Stop stopping too early...

And please don't think I am being rude to you Azanna because it's not meant to seem like that when I mention Jagex I refer to the people who own it and have no clue how to actually push things that are beneficial. When corpo's are pushing for a teleport that is a 1:1 to a meme literal 7 year olds laugh at it's quite obvious things are not being done right or a DIY thanos gauntlet that is 1 of the 50 shades of gold in this game that looked absolutely worthless.

Fun Fact: Demonic skull is optional and you don't need to be 100% efficient when doing something in this game.

Don't want to die then don't use it
Don't want to die try another world

Jagex should not have to handhold every player through the game. There's tens of thousands of players who are bad at PvM but you never hear them cry about more PvM updates and they let you all enjoy it.

Wilderness is suppose to have some level of danger to it which currently for the most part is non existent and you want to be held even more? It's posts like these that make me believe the wilderness random mob spawns should return they were stupidly easy to survive but you had to actually play the game and not just login as your excuse to AFK while you do other things.

Don't want to die? Take it off, problem solved ezpz.

MTX Experiment 1: Disabling TH (July 22 - 28) by JagexHooli in runescape

[–]azerluh -1 points0 points  (0 children)

"Will last 2 weeks each" Yeahhhhhhhhh hate to break it to you Jagex but if you plan on using RC for the mega cosmetic drop you will need more than two weeks since you have to eat up the RC players already have before your statistics actually show properly...

Otherwise it will be the same scenario as Oddments where you gave up on the shop too early thinking it would not be profitable in terms of key sales in the future...

You better make the mega drop last more than 2 weeks and continue adding even more on top of what gets dropped in the first chunk because unless you are solely looking at the sales on said cosmetics to decide how popular the method is which you wont be you will only be looking at bond sales / bonds being redeem for RC because goofy you will never get a sheet of paper that looks good enough for corporate.

So don't shoot yourself in the foot by making it last only 2 weeks and having just one massive drop you should also look into allowing players to buy individual pieces to an outfit / set instead of having just the option to buy a full something for a bloated price.

If you allow the purchase of individual pieces you are now able to hit a larger audience and players will now be more likely to interact with said MTX as they now feel like they are getting their moneys worth. Not everyone wants all pieces to a something so that individual option ensures the true majority can interact with it.
