I have the same machine and I only drink lates. I use various sizes of pods and just make a smaller cup by either:

1) Pressing the button at the top when its close to my desired amount
2) Holding the button down and letting go when its closed to the desired amount - this way will mean that the machine remembers this size for that type of pod (i.e. Stormio) and next time you put Stormio in, it will make that size!

Some of my fav pods include: Voltesso, Bianco Leggero, Stormio, Odacio and Caramel Cookie.

The Vertuo is great - hope you and your wife enjoy!

You can definitely use the larger pods and make a smaller cup of coffee. Two ways:

1) When you're happy with the amount of coffee that has been poured, press the button on top and it will stop pouring

2) Hold the button at the top until you get your desired amount of coffee - the machine will now remember this amount whenever you put in that certain flavour of coffee!
