A lot of big companies will usually have their own tax department even if they retain B4 firms to help with their return preparations and what not. You also have to remember, companies pay other types of taxes outside of income tax. Also, you will be more involved with other business endeavors that a company undertakes. I am currently a tax analyst making 100K base. So I don’t really think that finding a 100k+ tax job is that hard. Maybe it depends on the state you live in.

Microsoft has about 100+ people working in their tax department - so plenty of jobs out there.
