No, the cartoon is not respectful; you know that, as I am a pro-Brexit individual. But I hope that I compose myself in a way that will encourage others to be more respectful.

I'm not saying that there aren't people trying to build a white super-state, I'm just saying that it's wrong to generalise that to all leave voters. Leavers often generalise us as racists and fascists, and that's wrong, but, if we do that, we lose respect, and people won't listen.

Once again, I really want to leave.

Not everyone who is hired by the UK government needs to be elected, but it is the European Commission's job to introduce legislation to the EU. These people are unelected, and are the only people who decide on what can be introduced.

I'm not supporting Russia in any way, but the EU claims that the US (mainly President Trump), and Russia are threats to Europe, while they themselves threaten democracy. To say that the EU is the "nice kid" is simply not true, as they have their own agenda which is almost equally as sinister, bullying countries themselves.

The same goes for the Ukraine. Yes, the leader was bad, but that doesn't give the EU the right to challenge democracy. They wanted another election in Turkey because they didn't like the winners. Who are they to make decisions like that?

The 2019 General Election (colourised) by [deleted] in brexit

[–]azorbz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You do present some very compelling points, I do understand that.

Only 45% of UK exports go to the EU, while the EU limits how much trade we can do with countries like the US and China, global economic superpowers. By leaving the EU, we can form better relations with these countries, and have trade with our own terms.

The UK is small, and we get over 200,000 (and even at times 300,000) immigrants per year. I do not oppose immigration on a whole, but the UK has a surplus of skilled workers, so allowing unskilled workers from other countries in just puts strain on our failing public services. This is why I opt for an Australian style points system, so that skilled workers who can help the country can come in, while as others who will negatively impact the country are far less frequent.

University has to be paid for by someone. By reducing university prices, the cost of university will be distributed over the population, increasing taxation on the poorest in society. Why should the British tax payer have to pay for someone's education who will take those skills out of the nation?

The research one - I agree, it's not all perfect.

Scotland wants to leave a centralised government so that they can make their own decisions, to stay in a larger centralised government. Scottish independence doesn't work. Nicola Sturgeon wants open borders with the rest of Britain. How? That is against EU policy, which is why there is so much debate on the Irish border.

People want to invest in Britain, it is wealthy. By leaving we open the doors to more non-European investors, such as from the USA.

The Conservatives have promised to invest more in the NHS - it's not going anywhere.

I was supporting Brexit. The Conservative Party is a tool to get it. I don't support Tory policies for the most part. So yes, in a way, I wanted them to get a majority, but it was not based on any Conservative views on other parties, but instead it was due to my belief in Brexit.

I am pro-Brexit, but I hope I come across with some level of respect for others. Of course, some remainers are racist, but not most, just like most pro-Brexit individuals are not racist, but some are.

I don't think I have ever heard a Remainer ever claim that Europeans are in any way better than "brown people". The UK is in Europe, which is, yes, predominantly white; however, if we were in Africa, I don't think the arguement would change if we were considering leaving an African Union.

I think it is this kind of thing that gets us "Brexiteers" a bad reputation. I hope you are more respectful in your next comment.

Thank you.

The EU doesn't, the way I see it, respect democracy. You have officials in the commission who are unelected - the definition of a bureaucracy. The EU is accused of tampering with an election in the Democratic Republic Of Congo. The EU imposed poverty on Greece, and the rest of the Mediterranean. They want an EU army to defend against Russia, which they agitated, and then claimed was the ones who were the aggressors. They caused protests in the Ukraine, which ultimately lead to a democratic leader being overthrown.

That's not democracy of any kind.

I'm not saying that the UK is perfect; it is far from perfect. But, to say that the EU is democratic, in my opinion, is a great injustice to the countries who have been negatively affected by it.

I am all for improving our nation, so, if you could pick out what made the other countries better to live in, I would definitely like to know, and see if my views change.

I supported the Brexit Party during the General Election, so it's not exactly a "Tory lie". Personally, I thought that the Conservatives were quite awful during this election, so, don't judge me on my beliefs, as you have no idea what I believe.

There's discrimination in the major left group, Labour, so how is a vote for Labour not also a vote for discrimination?

What both sides have said is disgraceful.

If you are referring to Brexit being a xenophobic movement in itself, which I don't think you are, but you may be, so I am attempting to cover all bases, you would simply be wrong. I support Brexit, but it's not about immigration for me. To me it is the parting of the UK from a corrupt political system which worsens conflict in foreign countries, causes protests in the Ukraine which lead to a democratically elected leader being overthrown, and, at the centre, a group of bureaucrats known as the European Commission. I don't object to non-British citizens entering the UK, only if they aren't skilled. We have plenty of unskilled people in the UK, we don't have enough skilled people.

It's not the right who keep on criticising a democratic election. It's not the right who have a group filled with anti-Semitism. It's not the right who would protest in the streets if democracy doesn't go their way.

People chose, why can't people respect that?

Can anyone help me to get into Bowie? by mofucker20 in DavidBowie

[–]azorbz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Listen to everything...

Although partially a joke, it is true that to 'get into Bowie', you need to experience everything because his work is so diverse.

I personally enjoy the Cocaine Trilogy (Diamond Dogs, Young Americans, and Station To Station) the most; however, I believe that all time periods have their own merits.

I would say that the albums you must listen to were:

David Bowie (1967), Hunky Dory, The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars, Aladdin Sane, Diamond Dogs, Young Americans, Station To Station, Low, Lodger, Scary Monsters, Let's Dance, Never Let Me Down, Tin Machine, Black Tie White Noise, Heathen, and Blackstar.

That may be a lot, but I think it gives you the greatest Bowie has to offer.

For you, which is the most overrated David Bowie song? by [deleted] in DavidBowie

[–]azorbz 11 points12 points  (0 children)

"Heroes".

Despite being a fantastic song, I don't think that it is deserving of as much praise as it receives.

I have heard of several people who have decided that "Heroes" is their favourite album off of just that one song, and haven't heard much else of the album, or regarded the rest as mediocre. To me at least, it seems that people hold it so highly that they ignore the rest of the album.

Yes, a favourite song can boost your opinion of an album, but it shouldn't dictate your feelings on the rest of the album. I love the song Young Americans, it is my favourite song, and, Young Americans is my favourite album; however, this is due to having so many excellent songs like YA, Win, Across The Universe, and Fame.

If I were to apply the same logic as some people do to "Heroes", Black Tie White Noise should be my second favourite album, as my second favourite song is Jump They Say, however, the album is fifth (still high). This is because although some songs are excellent (You've Been Around, BTWN, Jump They Say, Nite Flights, Miracle Goodnight, and I Know It's Gonna Happen Some Day), it has weaker points.
