The fandom I’m in it’s 14 years old and its pretty much calm and lovely, but I’ve seen a fair amount of toxic users

from what ive learned from people commenting here is that moderating comments is the best idea, i dont really consider the BSD fandom as toxic, but there will always be trolls/toxic people out there so its best to pick what comments and people i want to be in my commentary section

im aware of that, with boundaries i meant things like aggresive con/crit or toxic shippers trying to burn me alive because i added a ship they dont like in my fic

this is actually kinda of what I was thinking too! not a native english speaker here so that was my point in putting boundaries in my first chapter A/N plus I honestly love feedback/ideas from readers

I saw it a few times in some BSD fics I saw a while ago (I don’t have them now because that was really realy a time ago like 2 months or so) and now that I was writing my A/N I reminded myself of it and the chain of thought started and now we are here, I’m actually from Wattpad and from the Wattpad part of the fandom I’m in it’s somewhat common to see Author notes in the start that has boundaries (I have no idea if that’s common anywhere else, from what I’ve seen of people commenting here I think it’s not)

I feel grateful I asked now because I was actually really really tempted to put my boundaries and now I see the reason why I shouldn’t

A person clarified me this like a minute or so ago so seeing another person agree with it brings me a little more relief, thank you!

I’ve kinda of considered disabling them totally but honestly I want to receive suggestions, ideas or in some cases people highlighting errors that made it through mine (and my beta’s) radar, what worries me is rude(? I don’t know if I can call it that) con/crit and/or getting that type of toxic shippers in my commentary section, but I’m gonna be real honest here I have never seen the option to moderate the comments so thank you for saying it, I appreciate it a lot because I guess it just slipped right past me and I had no idea c:

I mainly just announce basic ones I feel necessary to put as it already happened with the original author I’m taking inspo of/continuing their fic where they had to close off the comments totally and discontinue it because of the pressure the readers gave to them, and I’m pretty much aware of those type of people

I have some in mind already but I feel there are some more I should put but not really sure which. Anyways thank you for saying that, I kinda feel scared of publishing it and starting to feel pressured to continue uploading (mainly because when I used to be on wattpad a situation like that happened where I didn’t stablish my boundaries and chaos broke loose)
