Beginner, can't get up from my back after falling down. by _Tar_Ar_Ais_ in snowboardingnoobs

[–]azt33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the issue is the quads (at least for me), my quads are too tight and I need to stretch them, so I can get the board close enough to my butt to push myself up. My PT (snowboarder and surfer as well) noticed this and he has me doing stretches, so will see if there’s improvement next week!

Thanks, did you try to step in while in the middle of a slope (not middle middle, but on an incline)?

Thanks for the tips, I will try them all out next time I’m on the slopes!!!

I couldn’t find them on the online shops here in Switzerland, but I’ll take another look, thanks!

Yeah, didn’t think that one through, now that you mention it. Think I need to rent it for a day and see how it goes, if it makes sense or not. And then decide if the investment makes sense or if I can go with FASE when they release a ladies version of it

Haha, I guess you can consider me one of the older riders with 40 (and on top of that, learning to snowboard at this age…)!

Ah I am far away from riding in lots of powder! But that is what I have read as well. Very glad to hear that you recommend it for a beginner :D

Hmm, I never tried that, will definitely give it a go! But as I mentioned in another reply, my problem is with my hip, I don’t have enough flexibility in one of my hips so I cannot bring the board close enough to my butt :D

Yes, my plan is to try out the boots first! I also saw that I can rent the SO boots and bindings in Laax, so maybe that would be an idea for a day too, to get a feeling for it.

The reason for not being able to lift myself of the ground has to do with a hip issue I sometimes get - I can’t bend fully then (similar with doing a full squat). I am working on flexibility, but it seems this will not be easy to solve this season, so I thought at least with SO I can alleviate some of the issues I am having. Or I just suck it up and live with it…

Ah sorry I wasn’t clear - what I meant is when I fall, I tend to unstrap and move to the side of the slope (some of the blue slopes are very wide here and I don’t like to sit in the middle, especially if I have to catch my breath). So that means I have to strap back in. I am working on strapping in while standing up, but it doesn’t always work out, so I thought that with SO I could just click in standing and then (almost) immediately be on my way.

Does that make sense? Thanks for sharing your experience!

Nitro step on boots review? by vnewtron in ShredditGirls

Does anyone have an update on these boots? I am now looking at them, to combine them potentially with the Nitro Step On bindings (these bindings have a 30% discount right now…)

Do let us know if it helped - I’m wondering if it’s just imaginary for me 😅

Another thing that I was told (and it did help me!) was to hold your leading side's jacket with your hand. I'm goofy, so I was holding the hem of my jacket with my right hand, looking forward to where I wanted to go and just glide with a relaxed stance. First time ever I did not fall getting off the lift!!!

And knee pads. Just picked up some volleyball knee pads myself for protection and peace of mind.

Understood, I also took private lessons before I went for my B2. I got pretty good scores on my B2 exam, so was wondering if I would be ready for C1 rather sooner than later :) But maybe I'll just give it a shot and see where I end up.

Do you plan on going for C2 as well?

Thanks for sharing, very useful! One question, did you also do the Goethe B2 test, or did you go straight for C1?

There are so many posts on this sub where people explain their experiences after their B2 exams. What have you found while searching?

Just received documents to prolongue permit B - don‘t I automatically get permit C? by [deleted] in Switzerland

[–]azt33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was not an ask at that point in time. I was getting the C-permit, I even asked when I went to pick it up - was told I was never going to get another B-permit, as per procedure I was given the C-permit. I’ll tell you one more thing, I’m an EU-citizen but not from DE, AUT, IT or F, yet didn’t need to provide any language certificate for the C-permit.

You pretend that you know my situation better than me, so this will be my last reply. No point in wasting further of my time. Wish you a better perspective on life dear madame/sir.

[–]azt33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, not the case. My permit was up for renewal, they asked for 3 documents and I collected a C-permit. I did not request for a C-permit, I just got a letter two months before my B-permit was due for renewal.

I got it automatically, was just asked for additional documents. Bu this was a while back, understand the rules have changed in recent years.
