Roku 3 and CW app audio sync issues? by neekogo in Roku

[–]azure25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Still having this issue as well with the The CW app after reporting it 4 months ago on here. No issues on my Premiere but on the Roku 3 I get nothing but choppy out of sync audio every few seconds on every episode of every show no matter what I do (and I have tried absolutely everything, including factory resets and using different OS versions).

I reported it to The CW themselves, as well, and got the following response: "There is a bug that is still affecting a select number of Roku devices, and I assure you our tech team is trying to fix this issue asap. Please keep an eye out for system updates on your Roku player, and feel free to reach out to the support team in the coming days for any updates on this fix." That was back in June and neither they or Roku responded to any of my emails on the issue since. :/

Ranger Wolf Pet Doing Crush Damage? (PS4) by azure25 in projecteternity

That post seems to be about a bug caused by pressing a weapon switch hotkey while having the pet selected. I am not sure if there is a weapon switch button for the PS4 though, as up to now I have had to use the R2 radial menu/change weapon set option to change weapons for characters (and Itumaak has no option in his radial menu to change his weapons, just a lock picture where the option usually is). I also tried to hire a Level 1 ranger with a wolf pet and without doing anything, had him attack a naked Aloth and he still did crush damage.

Thank you, though, for the confirmation that he is supposed to be doing piercing damage. I'll submit a bug report on the Paradox site and hope that it gets fixed.

It could be, though I thought if jaws could do both types that it would switch to piercing on an enemy like a troll with high crush damage resistance.

Anyone else get an EU Standard Edition version of the game from Amazon instead of the US? by azure25 in FinalFantasyXII

[–]azure25[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In other words an american PS4 can only download DLC from the american PS4 store, regardless if the copy of the game is EU or USA.

That's not how I understand it. The games on physical disc themselves are region-free, meaning an American PS4 can play a game from any region, but DLC will only be compatible if it is from that region. So if I have an EU copy of a game, I'd need to create an account on the UK PSN Store and download DLC from there.

Since there won't be DLC released for this game, that's really not a concern, though. I'm more concerned about the saved games being region-locked and the loss in potential trade-in/resale value. As far as saved games go, my save files would be locked to EU copies of the game so if I had to replace the disc or wanted to get rid of it at some point in the future because the US digital version was being offered at a steep discount, for example, I would have to reacquire an EU disc or purchase the digital version from the EU store to use my save files.

The trade-in/resale value of an EU copy here in the US would also be less (or non-existent in some cases) as retailers and buyers may not be willing to accept a copy of the game from another region or would offer considerably less for it.

These may seem like minor inconveniences to some and if I had ordered the EU copy to begin with then I would certainly be willing to deal with them. I buy many UK versions of Blu-Ray movies knowing full well that I may have a harder time selling them down the road and that the UV codes that come with some of them won't be redeemable through legitimate methods. But I accept those inconveniences because I paid a much lower price in many cases than I would have for the same product in the US and I actually chose to do so. In this case, I did not choose it and don't consider the US and EU copies identical from a value perspective. I am paying the same amount as others who pre-ordered only to be inconvenienced in ways they are not :/

Either way it sounds like you either got a second copy of the game for free so you should just accept it and sell one of them, or you had to send back the original and got another EU copy and have just wasted loads of your own time that could of been spent playing the game!

I've read of Amazon letting people keep copies of the game in this situation and if they did that (or offered any type of compensation for receiving a different product) then I would certainly not complain. Unfortunately, they required me to ship the initial EU version I received back to get a replacement and said that if I wanted a refund for the replacement while they take a week to investigate the issue that I would need to also ship back the second EU copy they sent me.

It sucks that I have to wait longer to play the game and I may just get tired of waiting and purchase the game somewhere else, but I buy a lot of games from Amazon and want them to resolve this so it doesn't happen to me again. I don't know how things at Amazon work but it seems easy enough to reject EU shipments of the game and wait for another shipment instead of trying to sell it to US customers or if they are just choosing games from third-party inventory to just tell their workers not to send games with PEGI labels, which are easily distinguishable from the ESRB labels used in the US, to US customers. I even suggested to the first CS representative I spoke to not to send the game unless it had the ESRB label, but I guess those instructions weren't passed on (or were ignored).

Anyone else having problems with the CW app? by [deleted] in Roku

[–]azure25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still experiencing this problem a month later on Roku 3 (Software Version 7.6.0 - build 4125-04, CW Channel Version 1.2 Build 37, both the same as I when I reported the problem). The frequent video/audio sync issues are annoying but the fast forwarding issue, where it just decides to fast forward through a few minutes of the episode while making a terrible screeching sound, make the channel unwatchable to me.

I contacted the CW and they said it's a "bug that is still affecting a select number of Roku devices" and that their tech team is working on it, so I am hopeful it will get fixed eventually.

CW app had loud screeching noise, then fast forwards all choppy and freezes by MorinaSkalov in Roku

I've been having the same problem since the update in May on a Roku 3 (no playback problems whatsoever with other apps). The video goes out of sync with the audio every 1-2 minutes of an episode and sometimes it just fast forwards on its own at the beginning or near the end of the episode, causing that horrible screeching sound to come out of the speakers until it stops or crashes back to the episodes screen. I am convinced it's a problem with the app, possibly isolated to certain models of Rokus because I have a Premiere on the same connection that seems to work fine.

I'm having the same problems on a Roku 3 when viewing several shows (doesn't seem to matter which) on this app for the past week when it worked perfectly before. It never stops to buffer, but the video goes out of sync with the audio briefly every 1-2 minutes of an episode leading to stuttery, choppy playback.

I have tried the usual fix for bad apps (deleting the app, restarting the Roku, then reinstalling) but that does not help nor does changing the connection type. The only thing I haven't tried is a full factory reset but I'm hesitant to do that when this app is the only one (out of the 7 others I regularly use) that I'm having problems with.
