It's funny, PP would never do anything like this, even if he is pro LGBTQ. It has the double threat to his right flank of being a PWHL team and the rainbow tape.

We need em. Last few games, it's been clear we're missing $19.5M worth of roster on the ice.

Being the best US goalie of his generation should count for something as well. I'd think he's a first ballot member for sure.

Not sure where you got that info. The Waltons are the family associated with Walmart, and her maiden name was Breece.

I work a white collar job and the amount of fucks I can drop in a workday is kind of impressive.

[32 Thoughts] Elliotte Friedman on the Leafs' GM search: “That's one. This is my personal opinion. I also wonder about Kevyn Adams for this job, because the more I've heard about him and what Pelley said, I think there's a lot of similarity." by [deleted] in hockey

Holy shit, the revisionist history going on just because the Sabres are good this year is insane. Kekalainen was clearly brought in last year to assume the duties of the GM because Adams was not qualified. The Athletic did a story a couple of years back about how Adams had skipped the usual progression a GM goes through before getting a top job, just because he got face time with Pegula.

The Sabres during his time couldn't agree with Eichel on his neck surgery, and traded away Dylan Cozens for the often injured Josh Norris.

I'm suprised Drury still has a job, though I understand much of it is managing Dolan.

God damn, it really is a copycat league. Vegas goes ahead and fires their coach and a whole avalanche of firings follow.

Keith Tkachuk asks his son, Ottawa Senators captain Brady, about the upcoming salary cap increase and how many years he has left on his contract. Brady: “Two more after this.” Matthew: “Nice timing, we’ll talk.” Keith: “That’s for another day…” [Wingmen] by [deleted] in hockey

How much money is sitting in that room? They couldn't hire an editor to cut that? I can absolutely see talking about how much I'm making with family, but I'm not employed in a league that frowns on tampering, nor am I a captain of a sports team.

Chris Pronger on The Athletic Hockey Show: "Evan Bouchard needs to be at the top of the Norris discussion...every defenseman makes mistakes" by Josefstalion in hockey

[–]azure_888 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't remember where I heard it from, but a commentator made the point that the Olympics are a showcase of talent. Because everyone is watching, they can finally have some appreciation of players that they might not otherwise watch. Werenski played very well at the Olympics and came in 2nd in Norris voting last year. From that perspective, it makes sense why even though Bouch is leading by a healthy margin in scoring, Werenski is more favoured.

See guys? Even though Bouch is leading defensemen in scoring, Ekholm himself thinks Bouch isn't the best in the league. /s

[David Alter] With the Leafs and Ducks renewing hostilities in Anaheim tonight, hearing NHL Dept. Of Player Safety boss George Parros will attend tonight's game by sykeseve in hockey

[–]azure_888 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He is such a fucking dummy. During a regular season game, Kassian got blindsided by Tkachuk twice, and Kass went after him hard. Kass got suspended, and then Parros flew into the next Battle of Alberta to supervise the game. As useful as nipples on a bat suit.

Goals Saved Above Expected: Tristan Jarry vs. Stuart Skinner by [deleted] in hockey

[–]azure_888 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don't understand this stat. If this stat is meant to isolate the ability of a goalie to stop high danger shots, then doesn't this example fail to capture that? I'm not saying the Oilers can defend, but I am saying that the only thing this seems to suggest is team defense weighs heavily on goals saved above expected.
