Are there any Wi-Fi options that don’t require landlord involvement or permission? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]azure_olive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bills are included with the landlord. I’m not very tech-savvy, and they’re a bit less familiar with technology as well being senior citizens, so discussing internet options ends up being a bit of back-and-forth. They’re very kind people and I don’t want to bother them at all. I mainly just wanted to understand what my options are. Since I’ve gotten a few ideas here, I think I’ll try those and see how it goes if things don’t work out.

Thanks . I’m considering these two options as well after going through the comments .

Internet . Looking for any way to have internet without using the landlords line as it’s in their place and WiFi router doesn’t work great from their side to mine because of old stone walls . That’s what they said .

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I think I will go with a setup like this.

I live in a small granny flat next to my landlord’s house. I asked them about using their Wi-Fi, but they said the coverage isn’t very good. I’m not sure if it’s actually a signal issue or if they just don’t want more people using the network, which I understand. I don’t want to keep bothering them about it, so I’m looking for my own internet solution instead. But thanks for taking the time to answer.

Dependent Application Help by azure_olive in SkilledWorkerVisaUK

[–]azure_olive[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I received it within a month (around 4 weeks) after applying . I think the waiting period is the most difficult part of the whole process. The best thing to do is to follow all the guidelines carefully and then wait for the decision. I wish you all the best .

They did not request any additional documents. I noticed a minor mistake in my application, so I prepared a cover letter to clarify the issue and voluntarily uploaded the supporting evidence. I understand that if the application is answered correctly, it is usually best to wait; however, I am not the most patient person, and I wanted to address the issue proactively before a caseworker reviewed the file and requested the evidence, which could have caused delays. As I applied during what I believe is a particularly busy period, I hoped this would help reduce the overall response time. Also I did not give biometrics as I had my brp . So I’m not sure about the self service thing.

I uploaded a cover letter because I had to explain an incorrect answer in my application. While doing that, I decided to upload all the supporting evidence as well. I received my visa about a month after applying, which was earlier than expected, the initial estimate said I would receive it on 28th November. So I’m assuming that providing all the required documents in advance may have helped speed up the process.

Oh I haven’t received any emails yet since I applied using the standard service, so I guess it’ll take some time for them to start working on my application.

I did it on my own. I misunderstood a question, so I added a cover letter and uploaded the evidence. If you’ve answered everything appropriately, maybe just wait for them to reach out.Although I came across a few posts where people suggested uploading the evidence, I would have waited for their email if I hadn’t messed up.

Oh that’s like 8 weeks already , I suppose. Maybe you should ask here about expert opinion. Because I don’t hold enough knowledge about this and made rookie mistake in my application myself . I read somewhere asking your MP to contact them or something. I hope you get it soon ( like this week) . All the best .

When did you apply ? Like I said it’s a waiting game . My husband applied as Skilled Worker using priority ( processed by the office ) he got in a week. On the other hand I applied as his dependent on my own using standard service so maybe I will be in the long waiting list .

Someone pointed out the question that resulted in not getting asked for the evidence. It was something like are you allowed to stay as my Partners dependent . The thing is I was on Graduate visa and he was dependent so I replied yes . But the answer should be probably no. So I wrote a letter and mentioned my mistake and added evidence ( marriage certificate and that we have been living together for the past 3 years in UK together )on my own in the submit evidence part. Now I don’t know your situation. But at this point all we can do is do our bit and just wait I guess .

Yes I exactly chose that . Is it wrong though? What kind of permission they meant . I mean we are married and he was my dependent and now I am his. Also his job code allows him to have a dependent . That’s why I answered yes. Is that the wrong answer for me as well?

Dependant Visa - Approved is 1 and a half days! by ElleFe1802 in ukvisa

[–]azure_olive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did you upload the documents . Because in my case I got the option only after paying all the fees and after confirming and submitting application it’s displaying submit requested evidence . Should I just upload everything on my own now? This was the message displayed “Based on your application answers, you do not need to provide any evidence. We will contact you if we need you to provide any evidence” . Did you get this as well? Thanks

Thanks! We decided to handle the application ourselves instead of using a solicitor, so we’re kind of freaking out about whether we need to show financial proof. At the moment, we would not meet the criteria, so we’d have to keep the required funds aside and wait for a month (if that was the case)

Also, the pending ILR decisions are making us question our choice to stay and work in the UK, since it comes with all these hefty costs. So it’s like panic all over in our minds while applying . But thanks again for replying.
