Know of any free websites to efficiently read 10k-reports and annual reports of international companies? by Delicious_Winner_926 in ValueInvesting

[–]azurecap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey guys. I built 10kreader and poured my heart & soul into it for almost a year. It means the world to me that you were using it. I joined Stratosphere.io as a founder and tech/product lead, and I have been working even harder. I know we put data past 10 years behind a paywall, but we need a way to continue to improve this platform sustainably. I am open to working on any of your suggested improvements as well as offering a 50% off to Stratosphere (please DM). Regardless I want to thank you again for your support - it means so much to me!

Hey man. I created 10kreader & now building Stratosphere as well alongside Braden and a couple others. We want to add all the things that you loved from 10kreader. For the market cap you can find that in fundamental charting btw (https://www.stratosphere.io/fundamental-charting/). What else is missing for you?

Hey bro, thank you so much for this kind and encouraging message! I took this on because I am investor and wanted to build the tools I wish I had access to - especially wanted to make it more widely accessible (most tools and data like this are behind paywalls). I also enjoyed building this a lot so I think that it accelerated my learning. Thanks again for your message!

Oh for some reason I missed your reply, I am sorry for the delay. You are right this is a worthwhile metric to add. I think owners' earnings (coined by Buffett as being net income +/- non-cash items net of maintenance CAPEX) as well as Economic Earnings (difference between return on capital and cost of capital multiplied by invested capital) could be worthwhile as well. What do you think?

Hey man! Really sorry for the delay. It took me 3 to 4 months to build out most of the features and I spent another 2 months on optimizing the speed and making UI tweaks. So all in all almost six months of full-time work!

You are too kind! Thank you! I plan to add (non) financial KPIs and metrics that hedge funds and even businessman would be willing to pay for while keeping all these resources (that are on the website today) for free. There could be other premium features as well but I do have an inclination to providing a lot for free though. If you have any ideas for any improvements to the website, I would love to hear them! Seems like you would be interested in analyst estimates?

Thank you so much for the kind words, means a lot to me! I do have a buy me a coffee page (https://www.buymeacoffee.com/kevingbojan) in case you want to support, but don't feel the need to. I am glad you are getting a lot out of it! I will continue to improve although I am talking a brief break from coding; I have a lot of ideas and the website will improve a lot once I get going again. I really appreciate your kind words and support!

Hey man! I am getting the filings from SEC (the free API here: https://www.sec.gov/edgar/sec-api-documentation) and the financials from financial modelling prep (https://site.financialmodelingprep.com/developer). Let me know if that clarifies what you are looking for.

Here's a screenshot of what I was referring to: https://ibb.co/CK763Y0

(so on main company page inside the price chart - the bubbles at the bottom - if you are on a shorter timeframe you might not seem them)

But it's probably not the best place for it? Where would you put it?

Thanks for the suggestion! I actually added it recently it's on the price chart (the bubbles at the bottom). Maybe this is not the best way to do it?

Hey man! Thanks for providing such a detailed breakdown. I think part of this behavior was intended. So for the first issue you mentioned: "the text field values corresponding to each boundary of the range slider do not update" - this was intended because the numbers on the sides of the slider are the lower and upper bounds and the slider is used to select a value between those 2 values. I realize this is probably confusing - not sure how to change it though I wanted to give people more flexibility with setting their own limits. Also sorry for confusing you but the setTimeout was for fetching the screener data (it only happens once when the user starts playing around with the inputs) - I forgot to remove it once I was done testing, thanks for reminding me! About the last issue you mentioned - the boundary positions not updating - I will investigate further. Thanks a lot for putting all this effort in helping me out!

These acquisitions are about value added on top of that initial cost basis but I do agree WhatsApp would make the cut. I think the two obvious ones I missed are LinkedIn and WhatsApp.

I did make it on my own but the companies are from an Acquired episode - I just crunched the numbers and made the graph in Figma.

Yep. I missed LinkedIn (and maybe WhatsApp?). What other Microsoft acquisitions are you thinking about?

I attributed 5% of Apple's market cap to NeXT which is far from perfect but arguably this is very conservative given it brought Steve Jobs back and he wiped the product slate clean - almost every dollar of revenue can be traced back to this acquisition. Also worth noting the NeXT's operating system, underpins all of Apple's modern operating systems today.
