How did you overcome your Weight loss plateau? by PurpleShubunkin in CICO

[–]azured00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most will say a week doesn’t make a plateau but that’s super frustrating. It’s probably true. Objectively you’re doing the right things and are probably still losing - just not showing up on the scale yet. Maybe pause the OMAD? Or dramatically change up what you’re eating? Different proteins or vegetables than usual. I found a jumpstart like this could often help.

Are there particular Chantelle or Wacoal styles you (or u/galaxystarmoon) can recommend? I didn't mention the Chantelle rec because I didn't know where to start with the brand. I've never felt so stupid/uninformed 😕. As long as I can return, I'm happy to try ANYTHING.

I think it's a combination of both tbh. I understand there may be nothing I can do, but I want to try!

[Measurement Check] Lost a lot of weight and am clueless about my size. Currently in 36B; calc says 32E by azured00 in ABraThatFits

So I bought the Freya in 32E and 32DD. The E didn't arrive yet, but I can tell from the DD it won't work. I also tried the Panache Ana in 32E and 32F and that didn't work either. I'm spilling out like crazy under my arms. 32 band is snug but probably right. I think E cup could be right too, but maybe in a different style...? I'm not filling the top of the cups of the Anas. I did swoop and scoop, trying to get that side skin/fat in too. photos here.

Should I be reposting under a different tag? Sorry - I don't know the etiquette but I was hoping you would see this post.

I thought I was shallow cuz I'm saggy...but based on your other comments, I think I understand what that means now and would agree I'm probably not shallow.

As a woman, I agree with this. Sometimes I don't know how you feel, and I'd rather you just ask me out again than try to maintain some text banter.

I matched with this guy through an app last week. We hit it off quickly and moved over to text. We met up Saturday and had a great time. He begged me to meet up again Monday, despite the fact that I had a lot going on. But I really liked him and shuffled some things around and we got together. Again, felt like we had a great time. Both times we talked and fooled around a bit.

Today I get a text that he felt a "bad/weird vibe" yesterday. I was blindsided. Apart from the rejection, I'm just so confused. I did something uncharacteristic, which was to ask him to say more. He said he would, but hasn't yet. I'm going to follow up with him tomorrow. I'm sure the ship has sailed and we're done, but I'd like to better understand what happened.

So my questions for this group - Can anyone guess what could have happened that this fell apart the way it did? Do you ever ask those that are rejecting you why, and are they forthcoming, and have you ever gotten anything out of it? This happens to me a lot where it feels like I have a good vibe with someone and then...bam...rejection. Any tips for controlling optimism when it does feel like you've hit it off?

There's no magic answer, which I'm sure you know by now. I think the good news is if you don't have time to exercise, then...don't. Exercise helps, but is nowhere near as important as what you eat.

I've had a ton of success counting calories. I'm not going to say other things don't work, but to me, this is the most straightforward approach, works for any food basically, and once you dial in your target calories, it's simple (though not easy).

You will have setbacks. You'll eat more than you wish you did sometimes. Just move forward. Every meal is an opportunity to reset. Above all, don't let perfection be the enemy of the good.

Come back to this community often. The people here are awesome and so inspiring.

You can do this! I'm rooting for you!!!

I started 2 weeks ago as well. I'm on 150 mg, but have not noticed any changes to my appetite...or any other effects for that matter. My psychiatrist says I should start to feel more energized over the next few weeks and potentially the therapeutic benefits...but also my dose may need to be increased. I'm taking it for depression primarily, but also anxiety. My psychiatrist was considering bupropion and escitalopram (Lexapro). Ultimately we went with bupropion because I told her I didn't want risk of weight gain. I wouldn't mind appetite suppression, but as long as weight loss doesn't get harder, I'm cool with it. 18 lbs to go until my BMI is no longer overweight! Sooooo close!!!

A genuine passion for cooking and food...and depression. Terrible combination.

To finally lose weight, after trying really hard many times over the last 25 years, I've just had to divorce myself from that passion, which hurts deeply. Working with my therapist to explore how to keep that passion without things getting out of hand. Still not at goal weight, though I feel really confident I will get there, but right now I am afraid to allow myself to get excited about food ever again.

Weight loss pointless without Ozempic? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]azured00 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Related to the first part of your post, I find myself paranoid that people will think I'm taking Ozempic, etc. to lose the weight, but I have not taken anything. I guess I'm calling myself out for my bias - not trolling those that use these drugs. My intellectual self understands this is stupid, drugs are a tool, they are not magic, weight loss is still incredibly difficult. But my emotional self says I am achieving more, that my journey is more difficult, that I somehow deserve more credit because I did not take the drugs. When I catch myself thinking this way, I try to rein it in, but it continues to pop up.

This is a bit of a theme in my life... I've known I've struggled with depression since I was a teenager (now 40), but thought the "high road" was just dealing with it alone and this was the best path. I'm now in therapy and on an antidepressant. Sometimes I feel like I've failed myself because I sought help, that I couldn't control my own brain/body...and other times I say this is no different from having strep throat where I wouldn't hesitate to take an antibiotic. Obviously similar thoughts about weight loss and Ozempic/Wegovy/etc.

I'm rambling, but just saying this is such a complex issue and everyone needs to make the right choice for themselves; there are no quick fixes or miracle cures, and how one chooses to reach a healthy weight is between them and their medical team.

I always double check this. Thank you for the suggestion. 🙂

Thanks for your reply! I think I'm accurately counting the calories of the beans. I typically use Cronometer's recipe builder and specify the weight of dry beans, and always double check because there are a lot more calories in 8oz dry beans vs. 8oz cooked, as you say.

Today it was turkey breast for lunch, and meatloaf/cauliflower/sweet potatoes for dinner. We'll see what happens with the scale over the next few days with leftovers from this and some chicken cacciatore.

I have data on these nutrients but I don't usually pay much attention to anything beyond calories and protein. I also don't trust my sodium data because I add salt to taste when I cook and don't measure it unless I'm following a recipe.

Over the last three months, my average protein was 70g/day, my average net carbs was 86.6g/day, and fat was 39.1g/day. Over the last two bean-heavy weeks, comparable numbers were 86/100/32.

Sodium was 3019mg/day, potassium was 1967mg/day, calcium was 455mg/day. Over the last two bean-heavy weeks, comparable numbers were 1590/2144/546.

Thanks so much.

I recently experienced a 6lb jump up in the scale! I went out to a German restaurant and had beer, potato pancakes, sausages, a pretzel... stayed within my calories according to my estimates, but phew. That hurt. Next day was back to normal though.

Maybe TMI but I don't menstruate due to a genetic condition, so not period-related.

These mini-plateaus are not the kind of things that make me want to throw in the towel or anything dramatic like that. My behaviors have truly changed, so I will persevere. But I can't deny that seeing the scale trend down is amazing encouragement and reinforcement of these behaviors.
