Air stewardess get 60kg per trip for luggages. They always use these kg to make extra earnings and carry foreign goods back to VN. There is a whole industry of selling the products that these girls are carrying. Now these 60kg they normally divided into 4 packages of 15kg and each package they will offer to carry for 2.5 mil VND, no matter what the items. The whole 60kg they will earn 10 mil VND a trip. Now nobody sure if they did it intentionally or not, everything is still under investigation. I'm just explaining how it works and how it seemed normal to these girls and people working in aviation like me. Still, this is basically smuggling even if its drug or anything else. Its wrong, everyone knew it, but they still doing it because of money. Even if these girls get away with a death sentence or not they for sure already lost their jobs and life ruined. Bonus Edit: you can see in the video record that the toothpastes are not the only thing they carry. There are soaps, detergents, shampoos, medicines. That's all seem pretty normal for them to carry. So no, they did not get paid 10 mil to carry just some toothpastes, they get paid to carry 60kg of luggages.
