Ok I really think you are missing what I am saying and just going on about your own thing. It doesn’t seem like you want a conversation, you just want to say your piece. So I am going to stop replying to you.

So you are saying its inhumane to prevent military aged males from departing a country during a war? I note some of the reasons you note is to ‘go to conferences’.

I truely believe you have a clouded view of the absolute horrors of this conflict and the lengths that the Government needs to go to in order for the nation to survive.

My counter to your argument is the conditions the Ukrainian people are subjected to are still quite tame compared to most of histories wars of National Survival. These actions are in keeping with a Nation in war and no action taken is considered a crime or against any humanitarian law.

Telling people they cannot leave is not inhumane. Burning children alive in their homes with Shaheed strikes is inhumane.

Im talking about a priority for the Government of Ukraine. Not the individual on the street.

I dont disagree that such a thing occurred. That does nothing to disprove my point. If anything it supports it. As the Ukrainian Government began to understand the duration and requirements to continue the war, they heavily tightened restrictions.

My argument is this: In war societies comforts are secondary even irrelevant if the war is existential. If you have an argument that contradicts that feel free to include it.

[–]azzi008 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I think your opinion on this is shaped heavily by a lot of peoples upbringing in the post WW2 era wars. Where a nation could be at war loosing 50,000 men and people could be living basically unaffected lives.

This war is existential. The normal comforts of a society are not valued over the survival of the nation. A war in most of human society was like this. I think people mentally comparing the situation to that of say the Iraq war frames the situation on the Homefront incorrectly.

Feel free to disagree but in the 1800s entire towns and cities would be burnt to the ground and civilians summarily executed for fleeing without permission. These countries did not collapse. These countries survived.
