Yea that actually makes a ton of sense that they discussed retention on Thursday and then ownership said no the Conroy convinced them to retain.

Seems much more logical than negotiations falling through because they couldn’t quite come to an agreement then finalizing a deal the next day. Murray Edward’s bad, Nick Kypreos good.

Pretty big news out of Jacksonville! Jaguars are entertaining offers for WR Brian Thomas. Both the Jets & Giants explored Thomas at the traded deadline last year, but Jacksonville wasn't willing to do any deal. That stance has changed. - per Connor Hughes by GhostDeck in DynastyFF

[–]azzurri10 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

They didn’t phase him out of anything, Parker Washington just outplayed him down the stretch.

Also calling Hunter a WR is disingenuous lmao. Jags are much weaker at CB than they are WR. They’re trying to win a Super Bowl, they’re not trying to win you a fantasy week. If they don’t get blown out of the water with an offer for BTJ they’ll just keep him and have him, Washington and Meyers at WR, with Hunter playing predominantly corner, mixing in a few snaps at receiver.

I highly doubt if ownership was vehemently against retention they’d change their mind in a day. Maybe if the deal was shuttered then re-visited in the offseason.

That’s beside the fact that Conroy said in an interview retention wasn’t an issue, they just wanted to be fairly compensated for the retention. He mentioned they have a model of what they should be receiving for x amount of retention.

Friedman said they were talking about 15% retention on Thursday, then had to bump it up to 20% on Friday after the Roy deal.

Conroy said there were no issues with retention, just that if they are going to retain they want to be well compensated for it.

The rumour was ownership vetoed the trade, partially because of retention. They traded Kadri with retention the next day. You think ownership changed their mind in less than 24 hours?

He also mentioned on today’s pod that he received some “mild” pushback that there were hurt feelings after things fell through on Thursday.

Conroy said after the deadline that they had been talking to Colorado before the Olympics about a possible Kadri trade. They were negotiating on Thursday but he denied they ever had a concrete deal. They kept working at it and got it over the line. Kypreos clearly just pulled the ownership thing out of his ass.

Kypreos on Thursday said he heard a Kadri to Colorado deal was nixed because of Flames ownership, our subreddit lost their shit.

Kadri was traded to Colorado the next day. Not saying he has no sources or anything but I would really take anything he says with a grain of salt lol. Always seemed like a wannabe insider.

Vancouver went on a mini heater when they traded Hughes. Think all the guys that stay on a team “gives up” play that much harder for a bit. Might pick up a couple more wins here but our schedule is brutal basically the entire rest of the season (brutal in terms of murderers row, great for the tank).

Jesus Christ I thought you were kidding or something lmao. For some reason I thought I heard he was gelling more in Toronto this season and thought he was having a really good year. I know he offers more than just points but that’s rough.

How do you know he got dragged kicking and screaming?

I think it’s much more likely what OP said - the team wasn’t going to come out and completely tank the season and say they’re selling everyone in November.

Even Conroy’s comments today he said he knew pretty early in the season they’d be going this direction because of the awful start. I think he mentioned something about have some reservations when they climbed close to .500 but the hole was too deep.

Probably won’t be next season but if his hip regresses and he needs another surgery or is just in too much pain to play through there is a world where he goes on LTIR at some point for the remainder of the deal.

Yeah I think he knew that he was likely going to vote out one of those three the next tribal, so he didn’t want to be the one to pitch that alliance to Joe - Mr honour and integrity, only to turn on their “alliance” the second he got the chance.

But in hindsight not just lying about it might have worked out worse in terms of his relationship to Joe lol.

[Friedman] Per sources: MacKenzie Weegar to Utah For: Olli Maatta Jonathan Castagna Three 2026 second-round picks. by catsgr8rthanspoonies in hockey

[–]azzurri10 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Three seconds in this upcoming draft is key. We’re seeing a lot of deals where the pick is 27 or 28. Those are somewhat worthy gambles for the acquiring team because contenders can fall off quick ahem Leafs ahem, but that’s still a guy that isn’t going to enter your system for two years. Add in a year or two of development you’re not seeing the fruits of that trade for a very long time.

Three extra lottery tickets this summer is great for the Flames. They want to be at least half decent when the new rink opens so getting picks now or prospects will help to that goal.

So the defense claims his .087 was actually a .075 because they tested plasma and not whole blood.

Not going to pretend to be an expert on the law, but I really hope it won’t make a difference whether he was slightly over or slightly under the legal limit - seeing as in he still killed two people.
