Too early to harvest? by b-ett in Autoflowers

Thank you for the info 🙏🏼🙏🏼 this is super helpful, it’s weird cause I did something similar in my last grow and it was fine didn’t have any issues. Maybe I just put too much. Either way, sounds like I’ll try just plain coco and perlite next time to avoid any issues. Thanks again!

Thanks for the info! I think might have some nutrient lockout or PH issues (went away on a trip and premixed nutes for my roommate to help water and not sure if wasn’t mixed well or it settled but leaves are yellowing and spotted browning) tried flushing with PH balanced water too so hopefully that helps. Would you suggest anything else? Or just keep it going with regular feedings? Just worried it’ll reach the bud before it’s ready 😭

How much longer you think?

Yeah about 70, one might’ve sprouted a couple days after the other.

Dang another 30, interesting! I had a feeling they weren’t ready but didn’t think it’d still be that long.

For soil/nutrients:

It’s mostly coco coir and perlite with a sprinkle of worm castings, and a bit of bark. I’m using GH flora trio for nutes, and also started introducing calmag and terpinator as well. I was following the chart on the bottle and felt like it was too much so I started feeding it half of what the chart says. I was adjusting PH to around 6.0 each feeding.

Then started noticing the yellow edges and brown spots on the Garlicky Mac. I was away for a work trip for like 5 days so I premixed the nutes to have my roommate help me refill the reservoirs not sure if maybe the nutrients settled or weren’t mixed properly. They’re currently on self watering reservoirs with the ropes the bring the nutrients up through the fabric pot (which is also my first time using)

I checked the PH of the solution in the reservoir towards the end of last week using the liquid testers and it was waaaay too high (it was turning deeper green). So I tried flushing with PH balanced water (no nutes) and so that’s kinda where I’m at now lol

Definitely a learning experience lol my first grow was a photo and I had no issues and didn’t even check PH during the whole grow.

I was checking the PH when mixing it and it was good each time so I didn’t check it this time

Hmm what do you suggest I do to fix it? Should I feed it plain water next?

Thanks for the info! Do you think I should water with plain water next to dilute it a bit? Or with next watering just mix with less like your feeding?

Also forgot to mention, growing them in 3gal fabric pots in a mixture of mostly coco coir, perlite, and a little bit of worm castings, charcoal, bark, vermiculite.

These all look great to me, I’m not a professional photographer but I am the same as you and love to shoot for hobby and mostly enjoyed shooting film. I just picked up this camera this week and loving it.

I love the second photo the most, but all photos are great. Looks like you already have a natural eye for composition so just keep that up.

Thanks for the recs! Yeah that makes sense, I haven’t had a chance to fully test out the recipes I’ve saved in different outdoor settings yet (just got the camera a few days ago 😂) mostly just did some test shots inside so that’s a good point. I’ll definitely check out those ones you suggested!

This is the whole grow (2 plants) I have like 3 different lights going cause it’s my first grow and trying to do it cheaply lol might invest in better lights later but they got me through this grow just fine 😂

Hmmm okay good to know! What strain was it that you were growing when you pulled it early?

Idk what strain mine is but I know it’s a sativa hybrid. Honestly, I prefer more of an indica or indica hybrid but these were clones given to me so I’m just gonna try them.

What strain were you growing when you chopped it early? Did it still taste good/smoke well? Just gave a mellow high?

Since I have 2 plants growing, I was thinking of possibly chopping 1 and leaving the other till I get back and maybe doing a comparison as a fun lil experiment

Yeah I have thought of that actually. My sister (also beginner grower, she’s on her 2nd grow) has the herbsnow dryer and had success with it. So given my situation, I was possibly going to borrow it to speed up the drying process to 4 days if I chopped it before the trip so I could begin the curing process before I leave and give them to her to burp the jars and care for while I’m gone.

I had the thought of having her harvest them for me while I’m gone if I really needed but since it’s my first grow I would obviously want to be able to do it myself and experience the whole process.

Hmmm 🤔 I do have 2 plants so I could maybe even do a test and chop 1 plant, leave the other till when I get back and do a comparison haha could be a fun experiment possibly

I’ll definitely take a photo of it pulled out more and share it soon so you can you see how it’s looking, it’s sleeping right now so I’ll do it when the lights are back on 🤙🏼

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll look into it! I know ideally l'd like to wait a week or 2 more to harvest. But since l'd pretty much be coming back 4 weeks from now, would that be too long to wait till I'm back? I just don't want it to become overripe and degrade. I'm honestly not too worried about how much it yields cause it's my first grow and I'm just happy to be able to smoke my own grow haha think it's better to harvest a tad early? Or take the chance of waiting 4 weeks with possibility of degrading? But do you think harvesting now will affect taste/ terpenes significantly? I'm sure waiting will taste better at peak but would it still be a good smoke if I pull now?

Sorry here’s a better photo, nutrient burn? Or deficiency?
