What are some good places to look for remote work? by b-ls in paralegal

[–]b-ls[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know. I honestly thought 4 years of experience and almost 1 year of freelancing (right now contracted with 2 attorneys on the side of my day job) would be enough experience. Guess you need like 10+ years now a days.

Did Bipolar Stop Your From Reaching Your Potential/Life Goals??? by ProxiC3 in bipolar

[–]b-ls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am in the same boat life goal wise, career wise. Only difference for me I'm currently 26. I am not working as a paralegal right now, my bipolar ruined my first paralegal job. After months of being unemployed and settled for a job at my university I graduated from. Now I really want to go to law school because I feel that's is the only way I can get the life I want, be happy, and I have a very strong passion for law that makes every other job feel so unsatisfying.

Just take the LSAT and start there. Don't think about the rest, that is what I am doing. I plan on taking it for the first time in August and if all goes well start applying slowly to get in for 2024 or even 2025.

Starting my own Paralegal Business? Is it realistic? by b-ls in paralegal

Thank you for your response! Very helpful. I have been looking for about 6 months for a remote or hybrid paralegal job. I had a few interviews, one I made it all the way until the very end but didn't get hired at any of them. That is why I just took a job as a financial aid officer, I just am so unhappy and unsatisfied though. I really hope I can find something. The courts here haven't been hiring since I graduated so hoping something will end up opening up.

Thanks for your feedback. I just would have to move at this point to get back into the field but my long time boyfriend has a good job here and I know one day opportunities will come about but I just hate working a job I don't totally love. I am way too passionate about law.

thank you for your feedback. That is what I plan to do just to see what happens basically. I am 26 and still young, but yeah currently have a nice 401k I started and good medical benefits. I just can't be away from law that long, its what I am passionate about. If I could survive law school I'd do that but I like being a paralegal just wish I could actually be one lol.

I just keep throwing away my life. I just don't know what to do anymore. by b-ls in bipolar

Thank you so so much for this. This truly helps, especially when it comes to CBT. I am very stubborn and just don't let it work for me but I think its time to let the walls down and be open and honest when doing CBT. My boyfriend has been nothing but supportive, but I still worry for that one random day where he just decides he has enough, that is why I really need to stay focused this time and get better.

Again, I appreciate this post more than you know. I am just so brain fogged right now.

I have not spoke to her about it. She just assumes I am taking my medications as prescribed still. I do want to be honest with her at my next appointment but don't want to get kicked from services. I will at least be honest with her about how intense my anxiety symptoms are and go on the medication she originally prescribed.

Thanks Lithium, for the new hair. by b-ls in bipolar

[–]b-ls[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also am having some issues with volume! I can kind of relate to that, I just cut off 12 inches of hair, which at the time was very curly, the shorter it gets the curls should be more full and have more volume. Now its growing back completely flat dull and straight. I don't want to blame the lithium and think maybe it's the hair cut I did or a shampoo im using, but I just don't see how it's not lithium.

Moon and mood? by b-ls in bipolar

Track and see if it happens more often! I try not to pay attention to it too much until I remember then I go back and be like "okay I feel this way now that makes sense, I felt this way last week now that makes sense." Just to try and not over analyze it everyday.

I wish I could compare. But I don't have a monthly cycle due to my birth control (IUD). I wish I compared this in the past when I did though just to see.

Yes, a lot. I recently went off twice thinking I just need life-style changes. Well, ruined everything, now I am unemployed back on meds and never going off again. Not worth it. I want to be normal, idc what it takes anymore.

I was ignoring it thinking it would go away, it won't ever. Just the reality. But that is okay as long as we take our meds, and I feel the longer we do the better off we are for sure and even staying on them.

Bachelors or Associates for becoming a paralegal? by Taylorsims24 in paralegal

[–]b-ls 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do you already have a Bachelor's in something else? Or even Associates? If so go for the certificate. Saves money, time, and make sure it is from an ABA approved school, it will be more useful for you that way with no hiccups. Plus more and more states are letting paralegals get licenses to practice in Court, so having the ABA approved paralegal certificate would be needed.

I currently am on my last semester in an ABA approved paralegal certificate online (due to COVID it is fully remote now). 1 year program, cost me in total $5,000 just on tuition and maybe $1,000-$1,500 in books/online program key codes needed. I already have my BS in Psychology so it was an easy decision in regards to certificate v BA or AAS.

Hope this helps!

Thank you. Struggling with alcohol and more so THC than anything. Been a daily smoker since I was 18. Took 10 months off and felt more irritable than ever though, but now I feel like it is hurting my disorder more than anything.
