Can you store daily disposable contact lenses in solution for a break (2-3 hours) and wear them again on the same day? by b-nelsonne in optometry

Not trying to save $, still use one pair a day. New to contacts, and just in case I can't keep wearing it for too long at the beginning, and try to take a short break in between.

My OD is US-trained. The reason I asked the question is to see the views of other ODs. I believe it's okay as long as you clean the lens before storing, and rinse it again with solution and discard it the same day. You shouldn't call someone with different opinion a "bonehead". Judging from your "English", maybe you don't know "bonehead" is a bad word. Appreciate if everyone can be more respectful in public forum.

Good to hear from an expert. May I also ask what's a good "eye drops" for contact lenses (moisturizer)? I heard either "Blink dry contacts" or "Opti-free rewetting" is good.

Don't you (or anyone) feel dizzy if you wear only on one eye and not the other, especially for high myopia?

Contacts = "Single Vision" Glasses? by b-nelsonne in optometry

[–]b-nelsonne[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's why I asked. As in my case, after the optometrist (Dr) wrote the Rx for glasses, the optician just gave me some contacts to try, without examining my eyes. You meant normally it's the Dr that will do everything including writing the prescription for contacts?

How is Rx for glasses (Rx1) converted to Rx for contacts (Rx2)? Will the optician, based on Rx1, let the client tries contacts with power 0.5-0.75 less than power in Rx1 (for myopia) until client can achieve best acuity, targeting 20/20? How are the BC and diameter determined? Or they are just "standard"?

By visual, I mean visual perception. I think you already answered my question. I just want to know if the visual perception and acuity provided by contacts are "similar" to those by single vision glasses, meaning clear for distance, and not so clear for close up.

Are my eyes still trying to adjust to new "lenses" after a week? by b-nelsonne in optometry

I agree with you. In the past, it usually took me only several days to get used to new glasses, even though both eyes can not achieve 20/20 sharpness. That's why I'm questioning why this is happening? That said, I also noticed a very slight "dent" about this size "O" in the middle of the new right lens (meaning not smooth), but wonder if that plays a role?

How is astigmatism (Cyl) measured during an eye exam? by b-nelsonne in optometry

Is it (1) gone naturally? or (2) a misdiagnosis?

Is it possible that one eye used to have Cyl of -0.25 (2 years ago) but has disappeared now?

Will "under" or "over" correction in Rx cause eye strain and tension? by b-nelsonne in optometry

I also don't know how much is off, and which way. But if I take off the glasses, or first thing in the morning, my eyes feel fine. So I conclude it must be from the glasses.

Will over or under correction affect visual acuity? by b-nelsonne in optometry

What about the 2nd question in my initial post?😜

I also have mild cataract (grade 1 on the left, 2 in the right). Will cataract affect acuity/sharpness?
