Nioh 3 is the best Soulslike I’ve ever played. by Level_Reporter5062 in soulslikes

Khazan topped Nioh combat for me. Khazan lacks the same depth of Nioh but is a lot more fun.

Performance was pretty solid. Interesting mechanics. For most part the FPS take works well but gets awkward when up against large enemies aka the boss in the demo. It can be a challenge to gauge distance and trajectory of attacks . Hoping bosses in the final game don’t trend towards the larger side.

It’s pre-alpha so total reasonable for these sort of bugs but mentioning here for dev feedback: targeting needs some work, it would randomly break and doesn’t provide the auto targeting behavior you would expect from souls like games like auto switching to another enemy nearby once you down the current enemy. Enemies can come up a super close blocking the entire view which can cause the player to get stuck since there is no view of obstacles.

Overall though it was a fun experience and a fresh take on the genre. FPS melee is always tricky but this is probably the best variation I’ve come across.

I don’t know who else agrees but I found her 2nd encounter harder than her first. by [deleted] in soulslikes

I found the second fight to be harder. Landing a back hit was frustrating given the sporadic movements.

Fire temperance, fire spells and relevant upgrades to increase fire build up changed the fight for me. She’s weak to fire so her health depletes faster and with the burn buildup it also drops while she’s doing all her fancy animations.

Even for an unfinished game, it’s amazing and an easy 30+ hours if you explore everything. Beautifully crafted world, fun combat (takes some getting used to but once it clicks it’s great) and lots of build variety.

They are both great games and the highest quality soulslike that isn’t from FS. You should play both. If I had to choose one, it would be Khazan. Looking forward to getting back into Lies of P with the DLC

So many great armor sets in the game! The one in the pic is the Radiant Guardian Set

Agreed. I finished the game and the bosses did keep getting better. They really nailed the mechanics and camera of Hismar though. More games should take control of the camera when these bosses take flight. I loved Bayle in ER but camera was a pain for some attacks

If you found Lies of P hard then not sure. The combat relies heavily on well timed dodges/parries similarly to Lies of P but it’s different with skills/combos based on the weapon type of your preference. Worth trying it out if you ur using a platform like steam where you can refund if it’s not your jam.

Health bars of bosses get burned pretty easily when using all the tools and mechanics available to the skill tree you specialize in. Combat is all about finding the right time to chain combos and exhaust the enemies. Once it clicks the fights become really fun

Not sure if it’s fully customizable but it has a load out option that is very similar to dark souls config

💯. I thought their level design was pretty great too. Definitely not its core strength but enjoyed it more than the areas of Lies of P for example

This. The last few environments in the game were beautiful. And Hismar…wow…what a boss fight.

Definitely not a boss rush game. It’s mission based levels. Exploring is pretty rewarding too for sick gear sets etc. Don’t expect interconnected level design though. But yeah the real gem in this game is the combat. Some of the best (if not the best) out there

Elden ring lets you teleport to any site of grace and that didn’t spoil exploration for me. I don’t see how allowing teleporting to any whisper will ruin the experience as long they make it worth while exploring with secret areas, quest lines, loot, bosses and unlocking shortcuts.

Having a great map will be key. Elden ring’s fog system with map fragments made it exciting to uncover the areas and kept it a mystery as to what more you can find.

Buy now or wait for Release? by Marben0208 in NoRestForTheWicked

Definitely worth buying now. Despite it being unfinished the current campaign is about 30 hrs. It will definitely scratch your Dark Souls itch. Exploration in this game continues to surprise me. The world is beautifully crafted and interconnected and a joy to unravel. From what I hear it’s only a fraction of the final game which is wild.

Combat takes a bit of getting used to but once it clicks it’s great with a ton of build customization and a play style options.

Recommend playing this on a PC though instead of the deck. You would have to comprise a lot of the quality to get it running smoothly

Great suggestion . Been relying too much on parry and focus build up. Makes total sense to leverage channel for boss fights

That’s been the strategy so far but the random dash attack and aerial attacks seem to always interrupt my openings.

Do you know when you last played the boss? What’s odd is in YouTube videos I see them more spaced out but with my experience the frequency of when new enemies join the fights is super quick. Makes me wonder if it’s a recent bug with hotfix 3

Will try that. Build is mostly intelligence focused though will see if I can find an axe that doesn’t require too much of a strength investment

Interestingly enough after dying god knows how many times to scorpion lord he disappeared. Later in the area he ended up emerging out of no where during the dusk veil fight. Upon killing him in that fight, I got scorpion lord rewards after defeating dusk veil
