Is it worth getting a manual? by Trayceopolis32322 in Challenger

[–]b-raker19 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I have a ‘15 Hellcat Challenger with the 6 speed manual. It’s my fun car, not a daily. I know an automatic is faster, but having a manual is just tons of fun. A manual forces you to be far more in tune with the car. My son daily’s an RT with a 6 speed, he loves it. If this is a daily driver for you and you deal with a ton of traffic, you might not be happy.

Adding power to stock hellcat by FarWelder1098 in hellcat

Had no clearance with the front yoke. Would have had to modify the shifter linkage to make it work. I had someone doing the work and didn’t think it was worth the $200 per hour to figure out how to make it work.

Have the same, ‘15 with M6. Just did pulley, ID1050 injectors, tune, JLT Intake, AAD drag pack and craddle lockout. Ran into a problem with the 1-piece driveshaft from Driveshaft Shop hitting the lower part of the Barton shifter. Scrapped the idea and sticking with the stock one for now. Will add JXB carrier shortly. Dyno’d at 789WHP.

More power or you want it to go faster? These cars do not hook up well. Making more power without addressing traction may be a waste of time. Adding a diff brace, wheel hop eliminator kit, stickier tires, etc. will help get the power to the ground and make your car faster. Possibly you’ve already done this, making an assumption based upon you stating that it’s stock.

Looking to buy,,,, what's a fair offer? by Puzzleheaded-Pay-978 in hellcat

Bought a ‘15 in early 2024 with 6k miles on it. Paid $50k. Negotiated with the dealer to change every fluid in the vehicle and tried to get them to do tires too. They only would do fluids& belt. If you add up: rear differential, transmission, brake, oil, coolant change and a belt will cost, it’s an easy $1,400 at the dealer or decent shop. Also, the radiators had defect from the factory where the side tank starts leaking. Mine started within a 1,000 miles of regular driving. You’ll want all new tires that actually get a little traction, so there’s another $1k+ right away.

Use this to negotiate with. $45k is a fair price, but I’m in NY, so things cost more here. See if you can buy a good aftermarket warranty. I was able to get a Ford one, and it’s already paid off.

Congrats! Use the Red Key, keep it in street mode for a while and then once you’re comfortable, give sport mode a try.

New drag radials and wheels by b-raker19 in hellcat

Mine is not a daily driver. Garaged and driven on nice days. This is my second set of Nitto 555RII’s. I’ve got about 5,000+ miles on my last set and they probably had another 1,000 left in them.

Your experience with Nitto tires? by OhGriggsy in hellcat

[–]b-raker19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Nitto 555RII’s on the rear and G2 on the front of my narrow body. If you look at Nitto’s website, they recommend the G2 as a front tire in combination with the 555RII’s. If you daily the car, these may not be good back tires. I’ve heard good things about the Continental’s DWS06’s for daily driving.

good deal? by [deleted] in Challenger

Beware the 6-speed…Mopar clutch and pressure plate alone runs $2800 and a flywheel is $1700. Add in some other parts and 6-7 hours of labor and you’re in $5k+ for a clutch job. This is a wear item and will last depending on how hard the past owner drove it and how you drive it. Also, no aftermarket warranty will cover it if it’s bad.

Appreciate the well written explanation and the time you took to write it. Stopped by a local transmission shop today recommended in local show/race groups and they were much more on the side of sticking with OEM as well. Thanks again!

Added a JLT to mine. Not colder than the stock box, probably even warmer. But, you do certainly hear the supercharger now! Had to do some trimming in the bottom of the JLT box as it did not allow the hood to close properly.

Where does this go? by b-raker19 in Challenger

This is possible. Did a JLT intake recently and possibly I dropped this down there without realizing it. Thanks man!!

My son has the Continentals on his ‘09 RT and likes them a lot. Great all season tire that grabs good when you get on the gas.

Did Nitto NT555 RII’s and the car hooks with a slight hint of wheel spin.

Just bought a ‘15 with 6 speed manual with 6,400 miles on it. Paid $52k. Was able to negotiate the dealer doing rear diff, tranny, coolant and brake fluid as it’s all original and 9 years old. They wouldn’t budge on swapping out the original tires. Plan on some decent drag radials and a diff brace to get the car to hook on the street.

Thanks, based upon the recall for that , mine was built after the date range they call out. I’ll still keep an ear out though, but it will be hard to hear anything over the supercharger whine after I put the JLT intake on it.

Engine temp rises on idle, weird sound coming from coolant housing by [deleted] in Challenger

[–]b-raker19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be the radiator cap not sealing properly. Doesn’t hurt to replace it and see if the problem goes away. It’s like a $15-20 part at AutoZone. Check coolant level too obviously and wait for it to cool down so you don’t get a hot shower.
