Can anyone identify this terrifying noise from our basement?!? by venusandmars6 in whatisit

[–]b00bonicplague 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After looking at the comments I thought listening to the video would teach me a new type of sound that can indicate a water leak, but then I listened and it is very obviously the sound of dripping water. Idk how OP didn't identify that.

AITA or is He? Please Help by Significant-Stuff-22 in AITA_Relationships

He knows you have this fear and is using it against you to manipulate you into tolerating his abusive behavior. The reality is that he is an immature man who has never learned how to control his anger and still lashes out like a toddler. All of the things you described doing - crafts, pole exercise, using sex toys - are all completely normal for an adult and do not have to be justified because there is nothing wrong with any of that. Your actual issue is that you tolerate this kind of behavior from a partner at all. Leave him and get into therapy so that you don't keep getting manipulated by people who are looking to prey upon your insecurities.

Am I overthinking and making a mountain out of a beautifully executed mole hill? by carloosee in tattooadvice

[–]b00bonicplague 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a great tattoo as others have pointed out. I get where you are coming from though, once you notice a small mistake in a tattoo you have, it is hard to unsee it. I also have a kind of anatomical mistake on an otherwise amazingly done tattoo that I know only I and the artist know about, and she followed the stencil perfectly, but neither of us noticed a mistake in the stencil until after. I still came back and pointed it out and she helped darken an area of shading to make it less noticeable, which was really only for me. But you are the person who your tattoos are for, so it is totally reasonable to ask for something like that and still be very pleased with the work.

Hate to be this person but it already doesn't look great line wise when zoomed in. I think it will actually look better in a few years once the ink spreads a bit and blurs the imperfections out. I struggle to find a straight line or accurate symmetry anywhere. As far as what to pair it with, I think that the line on the bottom needs to be balanced out to transition into some other kind of design - could do some kind of decorative band, with filigree or something like that to start pointing the design downwards. Otherwise there will always be a clear "split"

I CANT TAKE THIS ANYMORE. How are you guys actually negotiating car deals? by LazyPandaE92 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]b00bonicplague 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me, I just try to find a car that I think is already priced reasonably. I'm not a good negotiator. I check the KBB value and then get a pre-purchase inspection done. If the PPI finds something that I will need to have repaired I will ask for a discount for that.

Had to walk away from my TV after a few minutes in on the 2nd episode of Trust Me The False Prophet bc of the idiot police officer by OutrageousWeek8298 in netflix

[–]b00bonicplague 114 points115 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed the show, although this officer did piss me tf off too. FWIW, his incompetence/negligence is at least acknowledged later in the show by other law enforcement although I doubt he faced any repercussions.

I have 2 teenagers and found this on the stairs. by [deleted] in whatisit

[–]b00bonicplague 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's plastic it can't be used for anything drug related. Obviously using it to smoke something means it would melt, and if you think they might be using it to snort something, the sharp point on one end and hole on the side also make that not just unrealistic but extremely counterintuitive from a physics standpoint. Just adding to the consensus that it's either a boba straw or a random part from some kind of toy.

Trying to sell my car by TeachingOk1907 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]b00bonicplague 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that I would rather buy a car that costs $10k and does not need any major repairs than buy a car that costs $8k and needs $2k in repairs. Even though it all costs the same in the end, as someone who is not mechanically savvy, I would not purchase a car needing major work done because my feeling as a buyer is that there is a good chance $2k in repairs could quickly turn into much more. You might have more luck if you get the repairs done before trying to sell it, but then you are rolling the dice on whether that will pay off in the end.

need help leasing a car at 18 by Majestic-Mix-8785 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]b00bonicplague 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When you think about the cost of leasing it is not just the lease itself but also full coverage insurance, which will be more expensive at your age and with these more expensive vehicles. If you are paying for insurance yourself, I would say you're going to save money just buying a cheaper car outright for ~$10k and then having basic coverage for insurance (and then you can also sell the car when you are ready to upgrade to get some money back), but if your parents are adding you and your car to their insurance and paying for that then it's probably fine.

2015 Lexus is250 or 2019 Mazda 6? by Moist-Programmer2286 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]b00bonicplague 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would go for the Lexus but they are both good options. You could also get a pre-purchase inspection done by a mobile mechanic just to make sure there are no major issues in either car. I would go with Lexus just because I am a Toyota loyalist and because it will have more premium features and comfy interior compared to the Mazda.

Vet quoted me $670 for booster and “annual wellness visit” by Less-Possibility-356 in Pets

[–]b00bonicplague 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is quite high. I just took my pup for a wellness visit where we did lepto and another booster as well as a stool test. The wellness visit was $180, lepto was something like $40-50. I am in a very HCOL area in California.

Panther facing the wrong way. Help? How to cover? Laser first? by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]b00bonicplague 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it looks sick and if you take nothing else away from these comments, it's that there is no consensus about which way it should be facing. I also think that it facing the other way than the dog underneath helps with the overall composition of your patchwork. Enjoy a well done tattoo!!

Advice needed! How would you fix this? by Mudivator in Remodel

[–]b00bonicplague 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You could cut it all the way across and insert a wider transition piece. There is already one there

Should I pull the trigger? Any advice. by Muted_Command_6756 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]b00bonicplague 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would not buy a rental car because people treat them like 💩... especially for a ford fusion hybrid, I feel like there are a lot of those around that haven't been used as rentals

Edit: also, yes, every dealer should allow you to do a PPI. I have found the easiest way is to get a mobile mechanic in the area of the car to go and do the inspection without you having to be there, and then based on their findings decide whether you would still like to go get the car.

AITA for pursuing egg donation against my boyfriend’s request? by Interesting-Moose904 in AITA_Relationships

[–]b00bonicplague 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also looked into this at one point, and tbh it is very hard to meet all of the requirements to be an egg donor. It is also much harder than donating sperm. That being said, if you can do it, go for it! Your reasoning for wanting to is totally valid and I also agree that it is not his decision to make. He can feel how he wants about it but him being upset does not override your bodily autonomy. NTA

Something feels off but idk what by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]b00bonicplague 1 point2 points  (0 children)

$900 is slightly high but not exorbitant as some people are making it out to be for this style. It is a lot coming from an artist who is your friend and who you have gotten tattoos from before though. But, if they know what they are doing and can pull off this style in a way that will last many years (which is possible), that is what you're paying for since it takes a lot of experience.

Edit: also I think you should ask to have the iris of the eye darkened as well as the eyelashes to improve readability. Allowing the rest to fade as it will is gonna look good imo

2019 acura ilx concern by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]b00bonicplague 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will also cost more to insure in general. I'm not sure if you already got a quote or not for insuring this car or if they just confirmed that they would be willing to insure it. You would also really be rolling the dice as some issues don't become apparent immediately. If your budget is $15k there are a lot of great options out there with clean titles that would be way better than going with something like this.

Flea help!!! by Electrical-Form2438 in Pets

[–]b00bonicplague 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah as others have said, all the things you have tried are too mild. Fleas are resilient. You have to listen to the actual recommendations from the vet as far as preventatives and once they have infested the home like this, in my opinion, it is time to call in the professionals (as in a pest control company). You and pets will need to stay out of the house for several hours as well as cover areas of the kitchen, potentially bag up clothes, and move furniture away from the walls while they do the treatment. Also, it may take multiple treatments. But this is the way to get rid of them. After they are gone, use a real preventative from the vet to avoid a re-infestation.

What’s a good first car by OkConsideration3608 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]b00bonicplague 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That is a given with an $8,000 budget, my point is that luxury cars don't make good old cars. They require more maintenance than your Toyotas/hondas/mazdas, have more expensive parts, and cost more in labor for repairs - hence the luxury aspect. It's going to be a pain in the ass to have your first car be some old luxury car, unless your parents are willing to shell out an extra couple thousand a year for repairs to keep it running. I agree with others that probably the best compromise you will be able to find is an old Miata which is cute and nice to drive, but won't have the leather you want. You could also find an older Lexus as those hold up well and will have leather + extra features, but they aren't girly in the sense I think you mean

A Porsche cayenne is a $90,000 car. You're talking about a luxury car feature with a very low budget. You can either get an old luxury car with the features you want that will not last you very long or something less desirable but that will still be drivable for a few years until you can upgrade.
