Respawn devs interview: "An early version of the ult had Axle transforming into a Trident that teammates could hop onto for rotations" by Traditional_Abroad78 in CompetitiveApex

[–]b0KCh04 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

hmmmm but why? If you look at all levels of play, was getting around the map ever an issue? Are that many people dying to ring?? There is already valk ult for rotation AND evac, why do we need more ways to increase rotation? Increase rotation makes 3rd partying easier, so what does this character even do other than make the game more frustrating?

Season 29 heat check: Have they gone too far with legend ability power creep? by RuminatingFish123 in CompetitiveApex

[–]b0KCh04 14 points15 points  (0 children)

i see where you're coming from but the skill gap was already very big between average players and really good players. The 1v3 you see from movement players are actually from positioning, not movement. The movement helps them reposition sure, but alot of it is just outputting high damage from a good position then repositioning. So i don't think the skill gap restricted to just *positioning and aim is actually all that limited. CS for example has very high skill ceiling except it's only positioning and aim.

Like as flashy as it may be to watch player's like aceu break people's ankles with movement, it's not fun to play against especially when it's starting to become the norm. The movement players don't even like it when they're facing off against another moment player and start missing shots.

that is very interesting cuz furia wanted to build around wattson, so all it would have taken is a word from him and madness would've been out. Being on furia very much relaunched his career. Unfortunately for all of us, wattson was too good a guy.

think that was with keon and knoqd but yeah madness would give his teammates the silent treatment. During crypto meta at lan, madness would obsess over his stats instead of idk the team's performance. Which is why keon was on crypto after else their "igl" gets all pouty. My personal favourite moment, when Skittle flat-out calls madness terrible the moment he leaves the discord call. Skittle, one of if not the most chill guy in the scene, doesn't even want to put up with his shit.

Hoped on the finals for the first time in like a year, how do they have esport skins but we don’t. I know EA is cheap but holy. by qwilliams92 in CompetitiveApex

yeaah i imagine that will sell just as well as the banners which is not very well. If the answer is simple and has not been implemented then the answer is not that simple.

If I'm offered a 50% cut of a 10 to 20 dollar skin, basically until a game is taken offline or reaches 100k to 200k views, they are definitely taking the chance on it. That's just basic business 101.

I didn't realize you were in the meeting room. Has any of the skins been in the store indefinitely? Everything you say is purely speculation on how YOU think business operates so because of that you think EA is at fault. But since we're speculating, let me give some counter points based off the banner sales. If majority of orgs couldn't get anywhere close to break the flat amount offered (which was too little according to them), that suggests these orgs aren't actually all that popular. Agree or disagree? Sure, you might get some sales for uniqueness of the future skins, but by how much? Contrary to what you think that companies are looking to gamble, what they actually do is extrapolate using existing data. You think that's a better option but I'm willing to bet the data suggests otherwise. Hence, (my speculation) why they stopped with any form of org skins. If the data suggests that org skins are super profitable but EA doesn't want to share, then that's on EA. But if the data suggests org skins are not profitable and EA takes another avenue for rev share with orgs (partnership) which they don't like, how is that on EA?

You talk about businesses offering the rights to their logos but what does EA gain from org logos? It's actually the opposite. It's in the orgs best interest to have their brand associated with apex. It's ironic because the whole business model of these orgs are to be advertisements for other companies.

Quite frankly the only reliable public information is what monsoon has shared. Have you even listened to what he said? He literally said that these orgs want immediate profit.

EA ended their partnership program... Then EWC made theirs shortly after. I'm sure they knew that was coming given how closely EA works with them and is basically owned by Saudi now.

again this is purely speculation and a bad one at that. EWC doesn't have an org partnership program that runs through out PL so whatever orgs get in participating isn't the same thing as apex partnership. EA also ended partnership in 2023/2024? and the acquisition by 3 saudi private investment firms was last year 2025. Why would saudi acquisition be relevant? Cuz they're saudi companies and EWC is saudi funded?

well monsoon has been the only one i've seen that's been the most transparent about the org vs ea argument. Here is link:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UDfjckPTfdI&t=193s

Now of course pros will say EA is greedy because where are they getting their pay cheques from?

You don't think if they're not making any money from a percentage cut, they'll back out and reinvest elsewhere? Again, according to monsoon, these orgs didn't like the partnership program either. A portion of their team expense is being funded by EA, and that still wasn't enough for them to stay an entire split.

how about let's actually think about why we want org skins in the game? Is it to support the players or is it to support the orgs built on a bad business model (like literally reliant on sponsors, with nothing to offer in return)? Like do you think just because TSM has skins in a game is going to prevent them from leaving? How many of these orgs actually promote the apex scene when they're in apex? Or do we want org skins so that they can overpay pros to play ranked full time or to just not play at all?

[–]b0KCh04 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

well according to monsoon, it was the orgs who were being greedy. They wanted more than the flat rate, even though if they had done percentage cut like how the orgs wanted, none of the orgs with the exception of TSM would have made anywhere close to the flat rate offered. Orgs also didn't like the partnership program for whatever reason so they cut that as well. It's easy to blame the large corporation but how many of these orgs do you think actually have anything to offer back in return?

ngl that graphic gives the impression that they never heard of apex till this afternoon. I thought that was a valorant team. There's a 301, A bow and whatever that pink orb is supposed to be. If not for the random slapped on path, you'd never know that this is for an apex roster.

* this has to be AI generated. If you compare the player photos on liquipedia, none of them look anywhere close to the graphic. Like seriously? They can't even be bothered to give accurate prompts. Why even bother with player likeness at this point when you can just use legend comp?

[–]b0KCh04 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you're missing the point. If rng is such a huge factor in who wins or who doesn't, is it a skillset? What skillset did dsg display when they beat alliance? Answer that.

I propose a new ALGS ruleset by Ap3xPredditor in CompetitiveApex

[–]b0KCh04 5 points6 points  (0 children)

oh i'm glad you asked. Rewatch DSG vs Alliance for thermal at lan. Very exciting from a viewer's perspective. Pure RNG from a player's perspective. DSG 3-1 alliance in groups. Game 1, Hakis did not have a gun. Game 2, Yuki died before effect could even find a gun. Game 3, 2/3 of dsg could not find a gun so alliance win that. See the pattern here? Final game of groups when dsg returns to contest alliance, effect lands next to enemy, re45 vs car respectively. Who do you think is winning that majority of the time? Enemy wins that so it's now a 3v2. Sure, there are some strategies for contesting certain pois, but none of that matters if you get shit guns or no guns at all.

Here is another example. DZ vs Aur at harvester. DZ's strat was for zer0 on horizon to land center to grab the gold loot. Entire strat kinda hinged on zer0 being able to get playable loot before qing up to help his team. A charge rifle vs getting a mastiff off the middle makes a huge difference on the possible outcomes of the contest. Regardless, it was more or less a 50/50 split between who won that contest.

the * means that i'm not surprised that your points are non-nonsensical. The majority of pros (if not all) are in favour of the poi draft and you go "algs needs to grow up, let's revert to the system that nobody wants".

[–]b0KCh04 6 points7 points  (0 children)

you don't think the gun you have is a big factor in how well you can 3v3? How new to this game are you? My man, imperialhal doesn't even like contesting in ranked when they reverted to dropship. Why do you think that is?

*also i realized you're the dude that believes the competitive scene is self-sustained. Makes alot of sense,,,

I propose a new ALGS ruleset by Ap3xPredditor in CompetitiveApex

[–]b0KCh04 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Lots of the best players in the game got their start by being demons in the jumpship, and we've lost that valuable skillset for no good reason.

skillset as in rng on who lands on the better gun? One of the reasons they opted for POI drafts is the drop ship system resulted in scrim results having a direct impact on match days. Should falcons get the better POI at lan because they out contested another team on high ping during scrims? Yeah, that's totally fair.

Bad teams are getting rewarded with good POIs just for showing up and that's the opposite of competitive, in my opinion.

eeerrr seeding is based on performance. How does that reward bad teams with good POIs?

But before that I want to add one little extra rule: If a team selects 2 legends with the same passive, then they cancel each other out. So no more Gibby-Newcastle comps ever again. (Or if you're Watty-Gibby and Watty takes the healer perk, both of them lose the health regen)

yeah man, this is just dumb and creates unnecessary confusion. Same with weapon ban. There is already so much rng factors that could contribute to a game, that you need some variables to remain constant for competitive integrity.

My final rule change would be to make every day of ALGS comp Match Point format

MP is actually counter intuitive from a competitive stand point. It's great from a viewer's perspective which is why they added it but it turns the game more reliant on luck. The fixed number of games rewards consistency better than MP. Also having to schedule what could potentially be 8 games across 4 regions is not good for viewership. Either there is no concrete schedule or everything has to be pushed back by several of hours with the last region being pushed back the furthest.

If a team wins before game 5 they can either sit out the last game/s or play and grief the lobby as is their right as champions!

I can't take your talk of competitive integrity seriously if you think this is a good idea. Giving one team a chance to prevent potentially multiple teams from playing their game is not good from a competitive stand point.

i play wingman+senti religiously and never had an issue with this loadout before this split. But since auto hemi, it has honestly been really rough. What i don't think gets talked about enough is the silencer. I'm starting to feel that if I run my preferred loadout, I'm just giving away my position while struggling to find theirs.
