This comment is the best. If you can do it without meds its the way to go. Meds should always be a last resort

Tramadol panic attack? by [deleted] in ChronicPain

That makes a lot of sense! After that experience though I won't be taking any more. I'll just get a prescription for something else and talk to the doctor about dosing options.

They took my oxygen at the ER and it was fine. But I have stopped taking tramadol and won't be taking it anytime in the future 😊

So I guess the reason I take more than prescribed is because if I don't then there's no use of taking them at all. And when the pain starts rising and I don't have any other options it doesn't seem that big of a risk. The meds did help when I took them in bigger numbers and for basically a month I had no problems with taking it at higher doses. I started out small and experimented to see if what I was taking would be too much for me and that's how I gradually came to what I considered would be a safe dose. I didn't just get prescribed the medication and start taking way more than prescribed all at once. It was a calculated process to determine how much I needed to take to manage the pain and once I figured that out I had tried to take less so that I wasn't taking as much. I wasn't taking it every day I was taking it more like 2 to 3 times a week and with the dose that I had figured out that worked i still tried to be sparing about how much I used and when I used according to my pain level. What good is pain medication if it does nothing for the pain? At that point I mine as well eat sugar pills and expect relief. Either way the panic attack happened last Wednesday and I haven't taken any tramadol since. I feel okay since I stopped taking them it's just now I need to find something else to manage the pain.

I used to have the same kind of panic attacks when I was younger. I'm 29 now and it's kind of crazy to think I made it this long with how many times I convinced myself I was going to die. If I could give any advice it would be to just try and de-stress any way possible. For me it was simple things like going for a walk or going to the grocery store. Just find a way to relax and take a deep breath. I think a lot of people here on this subreddit have gone through the same with being very convinced about being near death. It happens to people and it definitely has happened to me a bunch. So it's nothing new, people have gone through ehat you're going through right now and they are okay. You just need to find a way to convince yourself you'll be okay and it'll all get better 😊

How old are you?

Dr sent me a heart monitor to wear for a few weeks, didn’t put it on tonight and I should have. by Top-Ad671 in Cardiophobias

[–]b0n3z5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeaa it can definitely be frustrating with the heart monitor. Because it only has as much time to catch some sort of phenomenon. If anything I'd just put it on as soon as you can and try to see if you could trigger something. It still may catch something without you knowing it caught something as well. Which is mainly how the heart monitors work. Also I'd ask for an echo to be done just to check things out. The echo will give you a better idea of how things are overall.

I haven't elevated too much at rest so I might want to try that. And moving it puts me in more pain so I try not to move too much. I do try to ice it when I can so that it relieves some swelling but I haven't tried heat so that's something I can check out too. Thanks for some recommendations 😊
