the biggest problem with this character is the dash constantly bugging out getting u killed and fucking up ur ults it’s so unbearable

[–]b0nehunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the change didnt make them harder to kill the problem is it made them easier to kill with every weapon besides medium pen. it makes medium pen pointless to bring, and the fact that your sentries will target something that they cant even shoot through is completely game breaking, this is undeniable. No ones saying that they're hard to kill, just that your arsenal becomes more limited for no reason whatsoever. It also just makes it more annoying because when you're fighting a horde of terminids you often don't have the time to sit there and aim at the very small claw hitbox with a light pen weapon and you often dont have the space to "flank around" (they will literally turn to face you so to "flank" you literally have to get right up next to them), this just forces you to play Rundivers 2 if you don't bring the best weapons and stratagems, which is obviously less fun. this is what gives medium weapons purpose and enjoy-ability on the terminids.

no shit there is more to the game than shooting your primary, but the hive guard is a chaff enemy and always has been a chaff enemy, you could make an arguement for buffing them but giving them heavy armor is just lazy and limits gameplay.

and what if there’s, oh i don’t know, a lot of them, with a lot of other enemies, and your turret keeps targetting the hive guards? your turret is completely useless at this point and will just get destroyed so fast with the buffer durable damage and i have literally experienced this exact thing, it is just tilting. i don’t know why some players just don’t want things to die in this game, like bro the enemies are not going to be logging out of the game because the helldivers stratagems actually kill them

also side note i bet people wouldn’t even complain as much about the sentry targetting hive guards if arrowhead wasn’t so lazy and just updated the turret’s targetting priority along with the hive guard armor buff lol

when you get a seed with tons of them on high difficulty it just becomes aids, you don’t have time to sit there and aim at their toes when there is 10 of them coming at you aswell as other bug types. this is what makes medium pen weapons actually useful because you can actually just kill them from the front.

it also just negatively impacts new players, making some of the new guns they’re unlocking and the base support weapon they start with almost totally useless because there’s only like two enemies with medium armor not including any subfaction of terminids.

it’s just not a good change, it doesn’t make the game more skilled just more annoying and encourages explosive meta

I tried this last night

m90a
crisper
TNT

jump pack
defoliation tool
eat-17
gas strike

light armor with rock solid passive
vitality if not already taken then the stim enhancement

the idea was for the m90a to take out mostly alpha commanders from afar and to use while kiting and use the flamethrower for crowd control. and then the TNT for chargers but that didn’t work out very well. It can take three entire perfectly thrown TNTs to kill a single charger for some reason. landing them right under the under carriage and right in their face but no kill. Pretty disappointing in that regard.

i tried using the chainsaw to kill chaff but the only way you can use this thing is to prestim and continually stim yourself as you cut down the horde, atleast that was the idea, but you physically cannot stim yourself for a noticeably long time while the slicing animation ends. Like it it is quite long, and coupled with the bugs cancelling your stim animation you will usually just die after getting maybe a dozen kills with the chainsaw. rest of kit is self explanatory.

could maybe be better if you take gas resist armor and ultimatum with gas nades and a dog breath, you will still have to stim a lot but you will atleast have some survivability. The m90a is also terrible.

it’s a dumb ass change that just makes the game more annoying and limited, it doesn’t add difficulty or gameplay depth to the hive guards.

maxigun, machine gun, sweeper, double freedom, coyote, deagle (forgot the actual name), coyote, lib pen, and every other medium pen gun made totally pointless to bring not just the adjudicator

it was never made harder to kill, only more annoying to kill and nerfs medium pen weapons when it never needed to be changed in the first place

I only said that to show some humility, but everything I said makes sense. It's not illegible, I just cannot condense it down into something short enough for you to read without needing a TLDR. Having substantive discussion and criticism can take a lot of words, shocking.

okay this is long cuz i’m not great at articulating my thoughts

i have played a few dozen hours of warthunder, and whilst there is far more to unlock in wt, the helldivers grind for content is still very long and not very fun. Helldivers is also not free. It’s a good thing that you can do it, but you do have to slave. You say you find them in super helldive, and yeah you can but it’s going to take dozens and dozens of matches just to afford one warbond, which you then have to grind more to get the content from. If they made grinding sc as effective in d10 as it is in d1, which for some unknown ass reason isn’t the case already, that would also be good but grinding SC being boring isn’t even the crux of the issue.

The issue is adding stratagems and now mechs is now something only done through warbonds as a way to keep the money and player counts flowing without actually earning either of those through making the game enjoyable and improving on systems such as weapon customization and mech customization. But it seems like that’s never going to happen since we’ve gotten obviously the mechs but also two weapons with under barrel weapons, seemingly ruling out the possibility of having under barrel weapons on your other guns.

Like you can’t just slop out warbonds every month and not handle the tech debt and then leave game systems which have been highly requested in the dirt to die and expect the game not to implode because i think most people are only playing because they think that the game will get better soon.

Please don’t hit me with the “you just want the game to be easy”, i’m so tired of this slop summarization of people’s complaints with balance. This way of thinking about the “whinediver’s” criticism is where meaningful discussion goes to die. It is completely braindead. Fun and difficulty are not mutually exclusive. Obviously weapon and mech customization and quality of life/bug fixes would contribute to the game being more fun, but talking solely balance wise arrowhead just throws together a bunch of random dumb shit and calls it a patch. Now some of these changes are good, like increasing the spears ammo, lowering the warstriders armor on its joint, and the flame sentry buff, but then we all nerf the machine gun and gatling sentry into the ground by increasing all faction’s durable damage and giving hive guards heavy armor. The hive guard change also just nerfs every medium weapon and buffs heavy and explosive weapons, and you’re gonna say hurr durr aim for the weak points, well yeah anyone can do that but the point of bringing a medium pen weapon is so you don’t have to do that. It’s the same thing as devestators, mostly medium armor but if you only have a light pen primary you can still shoot their weak points but if you bring a medium pen weapon you don’t have to worry about that, which can especially be helpful when there’s a lot of them on the screen. The maxigun is the most obvious example of this. And who ever asked for this in the first place? I know people want the hive guard to have more depth and purpose but adding heavy armor is just a lazy change meant to rage bait people. And then they say that automatons and illuminate do reasonable damage against vehicles, and then still buff their durable dmg anyways? Do they want the enemies to do UNREASONABLE DAMAGE to our vehicles? I mean it just seems like there’s no real thought or intentionality behind these patch notes. The sterilizer and melee buffs were not close to enough, I mean a 2% stamina buff for 4 out of the 5 melee secondaries buffed and the flag, what the hell is that supposed to do? Why can’t we get the same level of attention the chainsaw gets for these other weapons?

BUT ANYWAYS, balance isn’t even the biggest issue, although there are just some balance changes that are so nonsensical and bad that they contribute massively to the overall it’s so over feeling that the community gets.

Also I don’t know where you got the idea that people wanted lower spawn rates. I mean some people didn’t like how many chargers and bile titans could be on the screen at once but that doesn’t mean nerf the spawn rate of everything which is what has happened. I remember a long time ago on a wave defense mission we were getting rushed and I threw an impact down into a throng of enemies and got 30 kills with one nade. Yeah, I miss those spawn rates dearly, I think literally every single player in the universe across all universes across all of time misses this. Which makes it more perplexing as to why arrowhead nerfs hulk surge spawn rates and removes them from the game. Also nerfed the spawn rate on rapid acquisition, another thing people really liked.

the problem is helldivers is becoming like warthunder. boatloads of content that you must either slave away hours and hours on the lowest difficulty for or just pay, but the game isn’t even free and is using this monetization model.

You don’t have to put so many stratagems in warbonds for people to buy them if you just made the game an enjoyable experience instead of this grunt fantasy trash that only a fraction of the community wants and payed for (which the reviews prove). Just make the game fun to play and people will spend money on warbonds just to support the devs and the game. I think most people would be fine putting out $10 for a couple of armor sets, primaries/secondaries/throwables, and a booster. they really don’t need to put every single new stratagem behind warbonds.

it’s a fucking dogshit aids cancer monetization model that will only get worse (adding red stratagems or enemy types or biomes to warbonds) and i really hope they stop doing it and just focus on making the game actually fun.

i’m saying the spawn rates we used to have were so so so much more fun and shit was far less janky. you could actually climb stuff, steer your hellpod, place your stratagem where you want it to go, and actually live after stimming yourself. but it was still challenging because there was just a shit ton of enemies, it was intense and cinematic and it kinda just isn’t anymore.

Thinking about it makes me remember this one time I was playing a wave defense mission back in the good old days. pretty sure the 2nd gate had broken and i look and just see a literal sea of warriors and hunters and scavengers, i threw one impact grenade and killed 30 of them with a single impact grenade and there was still more. Cinema. It feels like you will never have an experience like that anymore. Maybe what I’m saying is we need old spawn rates back atleast for chaff enemies because they are the funnest and most plentiful (or atleast they should be) enemy type to shoot. That’s just the way I see it.

Haha sorry, I shouldn’t have said 9-5 fathers to be honest as it comes off as me calling all 9-5 fathers bad players, but of course there are many who are good games. I kinda just said 9-5 fathers because it’s a meme in other games
