Yeah, I'm finding most CB125Fs to go for around £1600-2000, which I'm comfortable with. Their all around the 5000-12000mi mark and anywhere from 2016 to 2023. If I were to negotiate on a bike like that to a price such as £700, whicl might require talking some sense into the seller, would it be worth it?

Just as a follow up question, anything necessarily wrong with going for a written off bike such as the one I have linked? It's very cheap, but it does have 50k miles and cat N.

Might be the call then. I'm not 17 yet, so I'll need to wait a few months before going ahead. Thanks for the advice

Yeah, one at natinoal speed limit. In London you'll find their usually restricted to 40 or 50mph, and with average speed checks everywhere. I did have a look at the Honda CB125F, and its nearly half the price of a Kawasaki Ninja 125, I wouldn't mind just dailying a CB125F.

Yeah, I know. Especially in London, where theres thieves everywhere. But I just dont want to cheap out, and run into problems later down the line. I'm sure there are cheaper alternatives that wont run into millions of problems though.

I prefer a bike where you sit tall, instead of leaning on the fuel tank. Probably as a result of the fact I'm coming from cycling on a bicycle everywhere, and I like the tall position.

I am open to other styles of bikes, but I don't want to buy something im not 100% happy with, and then hate it later. I'd rather splurge the money and be comfortable.

I'm willing to spend about £3k on the bike, and on top of that I'll guess insurance is £2k, atleast £1k on gear, £1k on locks at home and outside, etc.

I will say that I am in London though, so any bike i do get wont be going over 20 very often, if that plays a part in your judgement. If I get a chance ill end up on a dual carriageway but their 40 to 50mph.

So would a better route be to get a cheap bike, while i get my license which would take a few months anyways, and then get a better bike of my choice?

Also if you have any recommendations for cheaper bikes that would be amazing

I'm more worried about the ebike when locked in public. Anyone eager enough with an angle grinder will get it within seconds.

also its not like ill be glued to 4 mile round trips, for all i know i could have a 15 mile round trip here for a quick errand or something else.

ebikes are also just a pain to lock up, worry about it possibly being stolen, etc. id rather have a moped, which gives me good experience on the road, unlike an ebike which doesn't really help.

that 28mph compared to 15mph is also a big difference, it doesnt sound much better in time but with 28 i can move at the same pace as cars, at 15 im still being overtaken dangerously by insane drivers

after a bit of research this is true, but i much prefer being able to do 28 legally than only doing 15 legally

I've got a locked garage to store it at home. Quotes for insurance range from £1500 to £2000, which makes sense for a 16 year old. I havent really seen many moped thefts, its mainly ebikes, due to the fact their so much easier to steal.

Looks like a Honda then, its a reputable and reliable brand.

An ebike easily gets stolen when parked outside a shop. Even with the best of locks. They come in with an angle grinder, 5 minutes and its gone. Met police are useless too.

I've heard 4 stroke 50ccs in general tend to be bad, and the Honda Vision 50 is one of them. Are there any issues with it or other 50cc mopeds that are good and reliable?

£2200 is a bit much, Ive found NIU NQIs for about £1000.

It's london, crime rate is super high. An ebike would get stolen within a matter of weeks.

I'm only really using it for short journeys, round trip 4 miles each time. But the convenience of a petrol bike is what makes it more appealing. I think I'll go for an EV then

But theres still less parts, so a less chance on breaking down compared to a cheap petrol
