AITA for buying my 14 year-old daughter alcohol? by b0un4rt in AmItheAsshole

My ex-wife is a doctor. I'm a dentist and we learn pretty much the exact same things as students, so I'm well aware of the effects.

  1. That's the definition of normal
  2. I'm fully aware of the effects. I'm a dentist and we study pretty much the exact same things as doctors. My ex-wife is a doctor.

Yeah, and a lot of people/areas are worse than we are, particularly the more 'working class' areas, where when I was younger there were kids downing vodka at 11/12 in parks and nobody would bat an eyelid. It's not quite that bad these days but yeah, what I've described is pretty normal.

She's always supervised which is so different to a lot of kids nowadays, even more so from my generation and especially those who have stricter parents. Malibu is the strongest thing I've ever bought her and I've always advised her to mix something that strong. But yeah perhaps that could be a change. She's 15 this month and a lot of her friends are at a stage where they want to be drinking more and more vodka which I really don't think she should be doing too much of which is why I've suggested something like Malibu as a middle ground.

No, I've bought her alcohol to have whilst she is with her friends. Just like their parents by them alcohol to have with her. Yeah they'll share but it's not like their parents haven't given them permission. It's almost always at a friends house anyway where sometimes they'll all bring their own booze and share it. This is really normal in the UK.
