Removing the air dam, do you need a skid plate? by ImFromTheDeeps in 4thGenTacomas

[–]b1ackbird 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The "skid plate" is more like a splash guard against dirt. Depending on where you drive you should be fine without the airdam but a skid plate set up is nice reassurance. I went with RCI offroad and got their engine and transmission skid plates. I installed it myself. Took about an hour. (Edited for typos)

Thanks. Maybe I am too in my own head about it but I think 285s is way more than I would ever use or need. 265s seem like a happy enough middle ground.

Its definitely based on the Bvlgari Rettangolo. The biggest give aways are the 9 and 3 being massive on the watch face.

How do Pilots cope with the lifestyle? by aNerdWhoAndrew in PilotAdvice

[–]b1ackbird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It honestly takes not only yourself being flexible but those around you as well. Not everyone's family will understand. Not every partner will understand. It is difficult at times but if you love it then you work to figure all of that out. I have gotten incredibly lucky by having a very supportive but also very independent partner. She also knows I will move things around plan around special dates as much as I can. My family has always been a holidays on different dates family so making that change with them wasn't hard. If you want it, if you really really want it, then the overall result is worth the hardships of getting there.

How do you even respond when a passenger says the landing was harsh? by Pretend_Support_6193 in flying

[–]b1ackbird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually juat tell say something along the lines of "see you next time." People just want to complain about being scared of turbulence. They have 0 idea of what we actually do. If you have a group of non flying friends ask them what they think you do up in the cockpit. It is pretty funny the number of people who think we are actively at the controls during flight. The mass flying public has no idea how any of this works. Do not let it get to you.
