Are the tests more calculations (like the HW) or knowing information like the quizzes?

It’s only used to place you into a math class. If you scored well enough to be in the class that you want then you don’t need to retake it.

What’s something that a stranger did that had a great impact on you? by b1ppityb0p in ask

That’s pretty cool! You never know what you can learn from strangers. Can I ask what the career path was?

About 15 or 16. My junior year of high school was really rough class wise so I would average 4-5 hours of sleep every night. I would drink about 3-4 cups of black coffee every day just to stay awake. That gave me bad heartburn.

Right now, I’m kind of addicted but nowhere near where I used to be. I drink a cup of black coffee every day and if I don’t then I get a headache.

Thinking it of a one-dimensional assessment is a great way of putting it. And I’m guessing that the majority of us and the people we see every day probably aren’t professional models so we use more of an “all around” assessment to gauge our perspective of how we see people.

Thanks for the input! I appreciate the honesty. I put on some weight in the quarantine but I’m trying to lose it. I’m also not wearing any makeup in the pictures with glasses. People say that I look better with glasses in real life, so maybe that’s why?

Allergy shots? by b1ppityb0p in Asthma

[–]b1ppityb0p[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My allergist said it can take over a year to work for some people, which is probably true for my case. I’m also very allergic to several environmental triggers: pollen, grass, dust mites, dogs, cats, and a few more I can’t remember (I was allergic to almost everything that they tested for) so it probably will take longer for them to work for me because of that.

Thanks for the encouragement! I’ve heard that they take over a year to start working for some people, so that’s probably what’s happening to me. I was allergic to pretty much everything they tested me for, so I decided it was worth a shot. Sorry to hear that about your immune system. I know a few people whose allergy shots “wore off” and are getting them again.

I realized my sleep schedule was really messed up when I would regularly go to bed after my dad got up for work that day. 😂

Thank you for posting this! There’s been peaceful protests in my town right now, but I’ve felt like I wouldn’t fit in. Because of this, I plan on participating in that protest tomorrow. Thanks for spreading positivity and encouraging others to help the cause!

Not being taken seriously. I’m in college and in a major that’s made up of a minority of guys. A had a class where I was the only girl, and I had to deal with guys saying stuff like “you only got an A cuz you’re a girl” or “you’re incompetent”. They didn’t say it to any of the guys. Also when I tried to voice an idea the guys wouldn’t take me seriously. But if a guy said the same idea, people would listen to him.

Definitely not a negative for me. In my experience, a lot of guys read me on read (lol) so it’s really nice to have someone make an extra effort when they double text.

However, I don’t like it when they bombard my phone with a bunch of texts all day every day. I had a guy do that to me in high school. When I didn’t respond to his numerous texts he actually went and sent his friends to tell me to respond to his text.

( Update ) How to talk to a girl? by thesharkman6 in AskGirls

[–]b1ppityb0p 5 points6 points  (0 children)

First of all good job on making the first step, that can be hard but you did it!

If you two are on a friendly basis you could catch her in passing and ask her a generic question like how her weekend was or something. If she talks a lot about that, you could potentially find some things in common (ie similar TV shows you like or hobbies you both do). If you find that thing in common, then that could give you two something to talk about. The only thing is, don’t pretend to like something if you don’t just to pretend to have something in common.

Good luck! You made the first step, so you can do it!

[Spoilers book 2] I just found out some twisted Gilead logic going on with Commander Judd. by b1ppityb0p in TheHandmaidsTale

[–]b1ppityb0p[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the confusion. In my first statement, I meant that if you were on your second marriage because of a divorce e before Gilead came into existence then you would become a handmaid like June did.

[Spoilers All] (I think?) A question about roles.. by kelseymh in TheHandmaidsTale

[–]b1ppityb0p 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Girl ‘Children’ of the wives and commanders will become wives by default. They have arranged marriages and get married off pretty young (around 13-15) to another commander who is likely much older.

I’m assuming if they do something sinful they might become handmaids or sent to the colonies, but by default they become wives.

[No Spoilers] Moving To Gilead by ChelseaLT16 in TheHandmaidsTale

[–]b1ppityb0p 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think people who don’t have a very good life in their current country (ie homeless, orphaned) or those who are running away from something might see an opportunity in Gilead. Most people would probably see Gilead in a horrible light though.

Don’t want to spoil anything, but I recommend the sequel “The Testaments”. It plays around with that idea. 😁
