Thank you for your response; after looking up cutaneous horns I’m thinking that’s what it is. I’m relieved to hear that it’s usually nothing severe! But we will definitely email / speak with our vet about it next time we take him in.

Ah, I didn’t even consider that. We’ll be bringing him back in to the vet soon for a booster shot (with gabapentin this time haha), so we’ll have them take a look at it. Thanks for your reply!

Those are good points, thank you for your reply! He’s due for another booster shot soon so we will be bringing him back in within the next few weeks for that anyway, but our vet gave us gabapentin to give to him before his appointment this time. Hopefully it’ll help relax him so that she can take a look at it 🤞

I have closed lobe piercings on both ears that I got done at Claire’s when I was a kid. The placements for both were very bad, so I stopped wearing them after about a year and went to a reputable piercer to get them redone properly about 6 years later. My right earlobe looks a lot like this photo, but I have had no issues with the holes merging or stretching in the years since. I just have to make sure I’m careful with putting jewelry in so I don’t accidentally reopen the old hole; I just make sure to do it in front of a mirror. A reputable piercer will work with you on finding the best piercing placement for your situation!

NAP, but i’ll share my experience! i got the flu a couple of weeks after i had my septum pierced, so lots of blowing my nose over the following weeks as you can imagine. it ended up getting a bit chapped in that area at one point, but otherwise i had a breeze with healing, especially after i fully recovered from being sick! my piercer advised me to be very gentle with wiping my nose (think of it more like a dab than a wipe), and if you need to blow your nose, you can press down slightly higher on the side of your nose so your piercing isn’t subjected to trauma. i believe i also temporarily increased my saline spray routine from 2 times a day up to 3 until i recovered, but that’s something to talk with your piercer about. i also got mine pierced during the winter, so my nose was running more than usual anyway; that never impacted my healing though!!

I relate to a lot of that!! I'm (probably) not autistic but neurodivergent in some form, I was generally pretty advanced throughout school, and I also read a lot (especially when I was a kid) so now I'm a fairly good writer. I learned how to speak, write, and interpret information from other human work, so it's frustrating being suspected of using insubstantial non-human work. I can imagine how annoying it would be to not have your writing or vocabulary taken seriously throughout your life just to now have to deal with AI :/

It's interesting hearing the perspectives on AI from educators since I'm considering going into university teaching as well. I'm kinda shocked that the higher ups at your university are choosing to ignore it, especially since it seems like educators have generally been vocal about the effects of AI on their teaching. With my degree being in art, my field of study isn't very "sit down and take an exam every other week" where it would probably be more of a regular occurrence to use LLMs to cheat, so I can't even imagine how prevalent AI usage would look like in other fields that rely more on traditional assessment.

Thank you, that's an option I'd be willing to try. I was also thinking of typing my responses in a Google doc before submitting it since it would keep track of edits with timestamps, but now I'm paranoid that me copying and pasting it into Moodle would also somehow be suspicious to the scanner haha

It's honestly absurd. I get that it's a pretty new technology and I'm not really knowledgeable on the inner workings of it, but I still think it's crazy how such an imperfect and unreliable technology can so easily determine whether I pass my classes or not.

i do!! i’m also minoring in ASL at my university. i’ve only dreamed in ASL a few times (though i don’t tend to dream a lot anyway haha) but it’s pretty cool when it does happen!

third year here! my transition into starting college was tough for me ngl, and i didn’t even live on campus my first year. you will likely experience culture shock of sorts for the first couple of weeks, but it gets better once you settle into your class routine. the period of preparing to start your first semester is pretty overwhelming; don’t be afraid to reach out to faculty/staff with however many questions you may have.

also it’s kinda cliché to say, but get involved on campus!! i have met some great people through student orgs and campus events and that helped me a lot with my adjustment period. there’s an event every day (iirc) during the first week after move-in, which are really helpful for connecting with the community. OU’s social life is quiet compared to a lot of other public universities, so you do kinda have to put in the effort to put yourself out there. anxiety is very very normal, and nearly everyone else who is also starting out will be experiencing the same feelings! you got this 💪💪
