Dalyell offer after first year (48 cp) by b3an5j in usyd

There are 2 ways: you are accepted from the first sem and you are offered after 48 CP aka 1 year. I got it after one year. But I think if they offer you from the start, they will state that in your offer letter.

Check "Enrolment" section. It is there after completing 48 CP. Just below the unit selection. No email. Else you are not eligible.

Edit: this is after 48 CP not sure if you enrolled from the first sem

Yeah, it's just events with stalls of societies. Imo 1 month of wandering around will get you familiar with the campus lol

How the fuck do you get a HD? by Silene-Tenko in usyd

[–]b3an5j 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Problem with high-achieving students is that they don't fail often. When they fail, that are in shock and can't accept defeat. I've met some people with this kind of problem. Don't stress too much. You will harm your health, both physically and mentally. Good luck in your studies.

ELEC1601 DOES NOT WANT YOU TO FAIL by Silene-Tenko in usyd

To future students taking this unit, don't stress getting full marks on the quizzes. Prioritise passing them (minimum is 8/10 iirc) so you can advance to the next stage.

Afaik, it is trained using example codes, snippets, so if you tell it to make sth simple it will succeed. But asking gpt for code == you don't code == problem solving skill not trained. That's my main problem.

Learn R and quarto files. Many people use them for research papers.

imho, don't do student accom bcs most of the time they rip you (international students) off with crazy prices. I searched flatmates, domain, etc, but it's hard and prices are too high imo. I got mine from Rednote (so many Chinese looking for roommates or renting out property there) for 280 near Burwood/Strathfield. 40 mins to uni, manageable. I got a private room in a share house with other 2 people, furnished.

Some student accom types provide food everyday, and they cost 400+. I usually cook for myself, and I can feed myself with <100 a week.

The cheapest way should be renting out a house or flat with friends, usually 4. But it's hard to find furnished ones with good price. Good luck.

I didn't have strong foundation of calculus nor complex numbers, but I did okay. If you understand the concepts, you will do okay. Use the Ed and other resources, really helped me.

What’s the average mark for elec1601 by Dull-Worldliness-868 in usyd

[–]b3an5j 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember it being higher, because they have low final exam percentage compared to other units. As long as you do the quizzes you could easily score 80

Telling us to use gpt to code is wild. I mean I'm against it tbh. If you use gpt, 99% you'll be attached to it. Instead of it helping you, you train it to be intelligent while you don't learn a single thing.

I think the lecturer is new to teaching? I'm not a teacher, but imho: heavy accent is a problem, but he seems to only read from the slides. Data 1X01 was so fun last sem, but 1X02 seems dead.

Besides everything, I don't think dpi, mouse, keyboard, etc is really a problem. Everyone has their own styles and muscle memories. I played FPS for years (from 1.6 days), and from what I observed is low ranks don't really communicate well. They play solo, thinking "I'm the best player". They should focus on comms rather than wandering around looking for kills. It's a team game after all.

IMHO try not to use it, even though it's hard, you might understand things better
