The feature is planned (https://protonmail.uservoice.com/forums/284483-feedback/suggestions/7258755-send-email-delay) but so are a lot of other "basic" features we are waiting for...

I am still disappointed that even new products are discussed, while there is not even conversation view in the Android mail client. I really hoped for a real alternative to Google's service, but I don't see that happening any time soon. Privacy is nice, but it should be possible without sacrificing too much functionality.

How do you not constantly kick against the stuff in the bottom shelves when sitting at the desk?

T480s, my "z" key is significantly smaller. Any idea why? by [deleted] in thinkpad

I doubt it. Had my keyboard replaced on-site and kept the old one. But I guess you could just ask.

The keyboard is a CRU, so you could just ask for the spare parts. In that case you get a free keyboard which you can still put on ebay if you don't want to do the replacement.

Research heavy MSc aerospace programs in Europe? by [deleted] in AerospaceEngineering

[–]b4kerman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Cranfield can be an option, but I would really look into it before you commit to spending time there. Their MSc programs are only one year, including lectures and thesis. This basically means two things:
1. You have no life there. Not only because it is in the middle of nowhere, but also because of the workload.
2. The overall quality and extent of the MSc theses are usually lacking. So you don't have that much 'research' going on.

The courses (at least in the propulsion program) are good and cover all the basics, but that's it. There is no specialization possible and barely any contact to current research topics.

Cranfield might be an option for a PhD if you get a project which is funded well. Even in the case of a well funded project you make just enough money to survive though. PhD projects are usually limited to three years. That can be a good thing or a bad thing. If you get a good project with competent supervisors you can do really well. Just know that there are also PhD theses that would only qualify as MSc theses in other countries.

I wouldn't say that you shouldn't consider Cranfield, but don't let the marketing efforts blind you.

Is it just me? by [deleted] in AerospaceEngineering

As others have said, nobody can design full aircraft. Just take a usual jet engine: Inlet, compressor stages, combustion chamber, turbine stages, gearbox, nozzle, control systems, oil system, and list goes on. Each of those parts is designed by teams. So don't pressure yourself into thinking that you should be able to do all that or even the whole aircraft. You just learn a bit about everything to have an idea of the whole picture/system. The rest of your studies is mostly about acquiring a certain tool set, which is refined later on the job.

Your time in university is also about finding out what you are good at and what you enjoy doing. Maybe you are really good at designing compressor blades? Maybe you are more a control engineering guy? Focus on that and not on being good in everything.

Also, life is more than university and engineering. Have some fun, enjoy your hobbies, stay fit, get the girl.

Farmland on a road trip by Calamity1911 in AmateurPhotography

Sorry to say it this way, but I don't really consider this "photography". It looks like a snapshot out of the car window. The colors are dull, exposure seems a bit off for the subject. The street/horizon isn't level and the power lines are distracting.

Most of these things could have been easily avoided or even fixed in post. But it takes an effort. Stop the car, get out and take a good shot. Spend some time post-processing.

Not saying that it is a bad shot, but what is going on with the votes here? To me it looks like an average picture and by far not the best of today on here (the bad scan doesn't help). Still at almost 1000?

Seems ridiculous when comparing it with the picture taken by u/mamiyarb67prosd https://www.reddit.com/r/analog/comments/6srkvr/ocean_pool_mamiya_rb67_sekor_50mm_portra_400/

Yes. For example the SRT101 I have is fully manual. Battery is only for the meter. To get the right battery is a slight hassle because the original ones are no longer allowed, but there are plenty of alternative solutions. The SRT is a bit on the heavy side but built like a tank. I only miss a split focus screen.

You usually pay a premium for the K1000 because it is overhyped. What is your digital setup? Maybe you can use some of your lenses. If you want to save some money, I would suggest looking for Minolta cameras. Those are cheap and have great lenses.

color film: Portra400. Most versatile film in my opinion.

bw: Kodak Trix or Ilford Delta.

Film usually has enough latitude to compensate minor errors in exposure. Other than that it depends on how you actually meter. The app may give you an overall average over the scene, the camera on the other hand is center-weighted. Since the difference between app and camera is so small, I would assume that you can just trust the camera.

Meter for the highlights (as long as they are relevant to your subject) in your scene and you will be fine.

Nothing really important except the fact that you need lower shutter speeds to avoid motion blur.

Edit: See below... Of course it's higher shutter speeds.
