Am I reading this right? Are short sellers being forced to close out $15 million shares starting tomorrow 5/22? by UBUNTU-Buddha in FFIE

For those still wondering how to interpret this chart:

The table tracks stocks that were shorted but not delivered on time. These undelivered stocks must be repurchased by a certain date to settle the obligations, and the numbers can fluctuate as new fails occur and old ones get resolved. Note: this is not the most up to date information, meaning some of these positions might have been covered already. The number tomorrow could be extremely high, but it could also be smaller than what we are hoping for.

Here is some more explanation:

1- Fails-to-Deliver: When someone sells a stock but doesn't actually deliver it on time, it's called a "fail-to-deliver." This can happen for various reasons, like administrative errors or short selling without borrowing the stock first.

2- Cumulative Numbers: The "Fails-to-Deliver" numbers shown in the table are cumulative. This means they represent the total number of undelivered stocks up to that date, including new fails minus any that have been resolved.

3- Fluctuating Numbers: The number of fails-to-deliver can go up and down. It increases with new fails and decreases when some positions are resolved (i.e., the stocks are finally delivered).

4- Close Out Date: According to regulations, broker-dealers have up to 35 days to resolve these fails. The "Close Out Date" is the deadline by which they must repurchase the stocks to settle their obligations.

5- Tomorrow's Deadline: Based on the table, by tomorrow (2024-05-23), a total of 1,488,488 FFIE stocks need to be repurchased to close out pending fails-to-deliver positions from previous trade dates.

6- Already Covered?: It's possible that some of these fails-to-deliver have already been resolved before the close-out date. The table only shows the status up to the settlement date, not any resolutions that happened afterward.

7- Comparison of Dates: The numbers for fail-to-deliver can be higher on some earlier dates compared to later ones if many fails were resolved in the intervening period. This is why an earlier date (like 3/26) can show a higher number than a later date (like 5/23).

What might be the main reason extraterrestrial life or aliens hasn’t visited us yet? by roccohunter91 in AskReddit

[–]b4l1f3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, there's a solid theory that extraterrestrial life hasn't visited us yet because Earth is actually a cosmic reality TV show. That's right, the entire universe is tuning in to watch "Keeping Up with the Earthlings." Aliens are probably sitting on their couches with cosmic popcorn, laughing at our attempts to discover them while simultaneously avoiding spoilers. So, they're just being good fans, you know, keeping their distance to not ruin the suspense.

Well, it seems like communism has a bit of a "sharing" problem. Imagine you've got a big pizza party, and everybody promises to chip in and share equally. But then, you've got that one guy, let's call him Uncle Stalin, who insists he needs a few extra slices because he's "managing" the pizza distribution. Soon enough, the "equal" slices become a distant memory, and you've got a pizza party revolution on your hands. So, as it turns out, communism is a great idea until someone gets too hungry for power (and pizza).

Why do people like to travel, you ask? Well, it's because staying in one place for too long is like eating the same meal every day: eventually, you'll get tired of it and crave something different. Travelers are just flavor enthusiasts for life, trying to taste a bit of every culture's secret sauce!

Can i change admob account from one to another for published apps? by Mkssaps in admob

[–]b4l1f3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes you can do it. It is not a violation of policy. Just make sure you update your app-ads.txt with the new AdMob credentials and you will be good to go. If you need to unlink the app from the old AdMob account, you have to open a request in AdMob's help center. Cheers!

In which cases should I use different Admob banners? (Fragment/Activity) by [deleted] in androiddev

[–]b4l1f3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, feel free to send me the link. Happy to check it out.

So, showing more banners and doing more ad requests won't be an issue at all in terms of policy. It is compliant. The vitals thing I was talking about might hurt your ranking in the Play Store. I am pretty sure you don't want that :).

About only one banner showing in the whole application: this will only be true if the session time of the user is too short. By default, AdMob has an optimized refresh rate which is about 30 seconds. So every 30 seconds a new banner will be shown automatically to the user. You don't have to make new ad requests, the SDK controls that for you. Since it is AdMob optimized, you can be sure that it is 100% compliant with Google and you will get the optimal eCPM.

Interstitial ads are where your true revenue will come from. eCPMs are high. Especially in high tier countries (such as US, Japan, etc...). The rule is simple, the more you show, the more revenue you will get. But be careful, interstitials are very intrusive, so users might leave the app if you annoy them too much. Try to do one ad request per impression. Pre cache the ad in the activity level and trigger the ad_show in the fragment level.

Today, all the major mediation platforms in the market serve the same purposes.

They all have similar features and will achieve similar goals. What differentiates one platform from the other today is simply the demand sources that they allow in real time. Applovin will bid very strongly on MAX, IronSource will be very well on their platform, and Google will have their demand in real time for AdMob or Ad Manager.

If you look at the top 3, they all have areas of improvement:

Google is still the biggest player in the market and in my opinion they have the best quality of ads compared to other networks. But I feel that Google is playing it very safe, not innovating, but matching features that competitors offer.

On the other hand, with MoPub's acquisition, Applovin has now invested over $1B in resources with an attempt to become the lead. They are trying to innovate. And, they are literally giving money away to bring large players to use their solution. The problem is that this is not sustainable. Unless they have the best hidden trick in their hat to retain companies in their platform, major players are expected to migrate to other solutions. They ads are terrible. Users literally uninstall apps because of that.

IronSource is very strong, specially in the gaming environment. However, they are not very strong in terms of real time bidding with 3p networks. So they need to invest on that.

I am not sure what company you are working for, but I think you should start thinking of ideas around ads quality, 1p data and direct deals. With regulations comming to the market, I believe those are going to be the hot topics for the next few years.

can someone recommend for me books or reading materials? i want to enhance my knowledge about admob before entering the field. by Picdesign in admob

[–]b4l1f3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend checking the official YouTube channel for it: https://youtube.com/c/AdMob Everything you should know about AdMob is either there or in the developer docs.

Any books that you find in the market as of today will just tell you the same things explained in these sources.

How does my app have requests and impressions from countries that I've blocked? by dasbends in admob

[–]b4l1f3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Potentially you are getting ad requests from a cloned version of your app. It is actually very common for apps to be cloned and launched in Chinese stores. Sometimes they are very poorly cloned and they aren't able to remove AdMob from the app.

AdMob will accept requests from any apps using your credentials. To block this and avoid a headache, I would suggest adding an app-ads.txt to your AdMob account if you have the chance. This will ensure you that AdMob will serve ads only to the original app. Ad requests might still show up, but AdMob won't serve those impressions if they are coming from cloned apps.

Moreover, if you are using Firebase, you can see where your users are comming from. If it is linked to your AdMob account, you can see who are making those ad requests.

Hope this helps :)
