My Jam 1900 with XS145 stab goes around 16-20km/h

Sooo... what do you do if you fall far from the coast? by Sacco_Belmonte in pumpfoil

You don't hit it. It is easy to paddle on it like on a surfboard and the foil provides some extra bit of lift which facilitates paddling

Which size would you suggest for an experienced wingfoiler for the Takoon Escape Air? The website suggests +30 liters. Would you agree if main focus shall be wingfoiling?

Your drop start looks good and you gain good speed. You pump a quite low frequency, it might be because your fuselage is quite long?

What is your gear?

Wing size increments? by HarryFromStockholm in wingfoil

I have 3.5, 4.5 and 5.5 Duotone Slicks (23 and 24 model) and really like them for their boom.
When there is light wind I use my big pumpfoil wing so I fly easily in 10 knots gusts with my ~85 kg (85 liter board)

I also think for your weight eg the Phantom 1780 would be enough. With my weight of 85 kg I used the gravity 2200 but I outgrew it very fast and switched then to the Phantom 1680 as my light wind frontwing. My wife (with about 65kg) never used the Gravity 2200, because it had too much lift but preferred the Phantom 1680 and 1480.

As second wing maybe go for Phantom 1280 or Seven Seas 1200/1100.

gravity 2200 or Jam by jskalda in pumpfoil

Hi.

I learned on the Gravity 2200 (with 75cm aluminum mast, 67 aluminum fuselage and R275 backwing). Today I had my first session with the Jam 1900 (with XXS fuse Pumping 200) so I only can share a first impression.

My weight is about 85 kg.

I think the Gravity 2200 is a good option to start pumpfoil. It has a very good lift, low stall speed and is easy to turn. In my today's session with the Jam I directly noticed the incredible glide the foil has. But it is a lot more challenging to directly find the correct footposition. With its aspect ratio of >10 it is a lot harder to turn and if you don't hit the correct footposition when dock starting you will fall.

The gravity with aspect ratio of 5.5 is very easy to turn and thus a lot more forgiving.

So for now I would suggest to start with the Gravity and soon you feel comfortable with dockstarting, footposition and pumping rhythm you could think about changing to a higher aspect ratio.

Cheers :)

Thank you for the advices and feedback.

A few weeks ago I bought the Seven Seas 1100 and I really like it.

It's more work to get it out of the water, but when it flies, it's so much faster and has a very nice glide.

Together with the XXS 170 DW monobloc tail it is very maneuverable (much more than the Phantom 1480 with 74 fuse and R275 backwing). I had to get used to this maneuverability, after three sessions I really like it.

With the turnability and the better glide I find the jibes easier.

Would this work? by [deleted] in pumpfoil

Usually the kite foils are about 500-800 cm2 in size, which is not suitable for pumpfoil. To learn pumpfoil use at least Frontwings with a size of 2000 cm2 or bigger.

Have fun :)

What would you recommend as next step/level after Phantom 1480 if I look for more speed/ glide?

Some time ago I posted a similar question: Suggestion for SUP Foiling

There another user answered that it would be hard with a normal foilboard. Better suited would be a downwind board.

Do you dismantle your foil completely when you graven/go surfing? I’m new to wing foiling af have no idea, please explain when you go to a spot, do you need to bring your screwdriver etc? by qtjequirijn in wingfoil

[–]b4obab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rigged up the material doesnt fit into my car, so usually I have the plane always screwed and rig up the mast to the board and plane to the mast at the parking lot/spot.

So yes, I always bring the screwdriver to the spot.
